Update on 6/18 We ordered two Oshi dinner set and within minutes our food arrived. Too quick. It’s not possible the food can be prepared in such amount of time. And they are not! The tempura is not hot and soft - likely that are premade and sitting area until someone places an order. The Oshi sushi today is very unappetizing - the salmon layer is soooooo thin and the sauce on top is actually thicker than the salmon itself. The worst part - since the food is only warm and not hot so we are “forced” to finish the food before they get cold and we finished our dinner set in 30 minutes. Within two minutes they took away the tray and handed us our bill - we did not ask for it. And within another two minutes they brought over the machine expecting us to pay. It is really ridiculous. The restaurant is not full and there are no customers waiting for any tables! It appears that want to kick us out in 40 minutes of dining time. What a horrible experience. I almost wanted to give NO tips as the service is so bad. Anyway I only give 12% tip as a way to clearly show how poor their service is today. Will not go back again. Horrible dinning experience.
First visit - Very nice decor and enjoy the high ceiling. Prompt and attentive service. Food, ironically, is the least of the three ratings on food, service and atmosphere. The best fish is the assorted aburi sushi. The Oshi sushi is very inconsistent. Some pieces the salmon on top is way smaller than the rice underneath. The sashimi is okay - cut quite thin. The tempura is good. The chicken karaage is okay. The beef teriyaki is quite salty and rubbery. If I’m in the neighborhood I would not mind to visit again - just need to know what to order the right food that...
Read moreWe (2) walked in at around 445pm without a reservation. We were fortunate to get seated right away since it was quite early still. I had been told of this place by my father. The decor is simple and minimalist. Concrete walls and tastefully decorated with wood and iron. The menu is in paper to go format. I'm guessing they haven't had a chance to create a formal table menu. It's ok. They had a clipboard on the table showing special offers for the day. Today they had 6 raw fresh oysters at $14.75, which was freshly caught that very morning. Of course I needed to order it. My wife and I ordered the beef teriyaki dinner set $25, which includes miso soup, shrimp sunomono salad, one California roll, a bowl of steamed rice topped with some sesame, two shrimp and two vegetable tempura, with the tempura sauce on the side, beef teriyaki with a mix of cabbage, sprouts, sweet bell peppers, and a slice of sweet navel orange. The miso soup was excelllent and nice and hot. The Ebi sunomono salad was fresh and chilled right with the right amount of seasoning. The beef teriyaki was tender, and sweet, the veggies under were crisp. The tempura was light, crispy and tender. The squash and yam were cooked properly. The California roll was perfect which was not rolled with too much rice thank goodness. But above all else our server, Miyomi, im sorry if I didn't spell that right, was attentive, courteous, friendly, prompt and very professional. We enjoyed our experience so much and were so very impressed with this hidden gem 💎 we hope to be back to try the other delicious looking items. Thank you for your food and service. We will be...
Read moreThe food was great, well presented, but we had frustrating service. Our server was a trainee and that's totally fine of course, but the person who was training her wasn't really taking responsibility. One of our orders got lost, and when we asked about it he said he'd check on it and then disappeared without checking. He came to fill our water later after everyone else in our party had finished eating, and we asked again, and he took several minutes to check on it but did come back and told us that it was missing. At that point the person who ordered didn't want to hold everyone else up so we cancelled it.
Mistakes happen, especially when someone is being trained, but we weren't given any kind of apology for the missing order, and it wasn't taken seriously. I felt bad for the trainee because the situation wasn't really her fault - more senior staff should be making sure everything goes smoothly and just let her know if she misses something.
It's too bad because we really did enjoy the food, but the way that was handled was really poor. At the very least even just for someone to have said sorry would have been nice.
One last thing - it should probably be mentioned that agedashi tofu has bonito flakes (katsuobushi) on the menu, so that someone who is vegetarian who doesn't want them can ask to not have them. It's currently labeled as a vegetarian option and it probably could be, but it shouldn't contain any fish products...
