Salmon oshi only had a very thin layer of salmon and an even thinner layer of sauce on top of quite dense rice, without even the second layer of fish in the middle most restaurants include. Looks pretty though if you’re there for that. Chef needs to head to the Mcdonald’s next door to taste what a proper fry should be like; their truffle fries were glistening and wet with oil yet not cooked long enough. Did they even use any batter? It seemed like they just chopped up a potato, threw it into the oil, then sprinkled truffle-ish dust on top. Wasn’t even salted, and oddly served with ketchup which completely masked the already faint flavour. (Btw, for the best truffle fries, head to Cactus Club!)
We went at 6:30pm and wanted to order toro nigiri but they had ran out of toro. They didn’t even have the toro “leftovers” that they can’t use as sashimi to make into negitoro maki, which is a good sign they’ve been out for a while. Tried to get dessert but they also ran out of green tea ice cream. Whoever does inventory needs to be retrained. I’ll give them another six months...
