This review is for the Richmond Centre location. We had Chocolate Coffee Mousse, Guava Raspberry Mousse, Passionfruit Blueberry Mousse, and Mango Strawberry Mousse. All of them had sauce inside that ruined the taste of the mousse (e.g. Guava mousse with raspberry sauce in the middle of the mousse). Also, the bottom crust was either soaked or very dry and salty which did not taste good. The crust was crumbly. Moreover, they put a dry, colored sugar coating to surround the mousse that was unnecessary and it was difficult to eat (the coating broke into pieces which created a mess). The color was confusing as well (e.g. they put a red coating for passionfruit mousse). The Fresh Mango Cake tasted okay, but the mango chunks inside the Mango Pudding were sour and the pudding could be more flavourful.
In terms of service, the two servers went to the side of the counter and chatted when we tried to order. When I looked at them, one of them asked me what do I want without coming to us. Did they expect us to shout over the counter with our order? That means they did not want to serve.
I told them that I wanted several slices of cakes. Then one of them came to us and got us the cake slices. After she put the cake slices into the box, she stared at them for awhile. Then she asked the other server to come over and they looked at the cake slices together. We did not know what happened. Then one of the servers took a different box and transferred all the cake slices into that box. The staff should be able to tell which box to use once they know the number and the size of cake slices. They should try to avoid exposing the cakes in the air as much for hygiene reasons.
Moreover, they did not put tape underneath the cardboard of the cake slices to stabilize them inside the box. Instead, the tape was on the plastic piece that was surrounded the mousse. It was unnecessary because it was difficult to remove the plastic piece...
Read moreSurprisingly this place has one of the best APPLE PIES I've tried! I highly reccomend the apple pie here. It's buttery and flaky like a croissant on the outside and the filling is just right on the inside. I recommend reheating it in the oven at home to make it even better.
Aside from the apple pie, this place is BOSS for cakes and baked savory buns. Their pizza bun had thick ham and chunks of pineapple and tasted better than the pizza at fast food pizza joints. Their chicken bun was delicious too I'm just so WOW impressed.
They have an amazing black forest cake with real juicy cherries in it. Tasted of high quality chocolate and the whipped cream was fresh.
They even have steamed buns here. It's like a cake, baked goods, and savory food place that can feed you like a meal! Look at some of the cakes in my pics... It's like a work of art! They even have a ramen cake with a...
Read moreOut of all the Cantonese bakery this one is the best because the boss bakery on at Richmond centre does not have tuna bun and the Maxim bakery in Landsdowe has tuna Danish which is not preferred to my likely. But my favorite bakery is the one the tuna bun was perfect the bread was so soft and there was an oily finished on that bun it looked perfect and the chives that got garnished on the tuna elevated the dish to make it more appealing then it or ready was as a Cantonese who grew up in Hong Kong basically my whole life and to see our traditional roots of our pastry comes to a Canada is truly amazing. I am proud that Canadians get to appreciate the beauty of Cantonese food such as something as basic like a tuna bun has deep...
