Is there a zero star option? Because that is exactly what they deserve. 3 out of the 4 dishes were good. But the one dish that the server recommended was garbage. Originally we didn't want it but he kept on pushing it on us and it was way overpriced. Taro with Duck in it. Lots of Taro. Not a whole lot of a duck and the duck was all bones.
But that is not my issue with this place. It was the RUDE SERVICE. First thing that made me realize that this was not going to be a good experience was when we mentioned that one person in our party was going to be late and then he told us there's no need to wait for him. He said that he personally wouldn't wait because its rude to keep us waiting. First of all, he could be stuck in traffic or something else.
Next thing that happened was we asked if they will be open on Christmas Day just out of curiousity and instead of a simple yes or no, he said "If you come, we'll open......so how many people you got coming? It's going to be busy so I need to take your name and number down now". He pulled out a pen and pad. So we said, we'll think about it, we don't know who's available. And then he came back and said "So are you coming tomorrow or what?" We responded with we don't know and then he just walked off.
Finally, the last thing was an issue about tips. Food total was $85 before tax. We were gonna tip $15 which is well above 10%. The server hovered over us and said we need to tip more. He said throw in 2 more dollars. He kept on pushing us to throw 2 more dollars but we were still calculating the tip amount. And then we told him we don't need to tip on the tax. He said "Come on. Are you serious?" A $17 tip would've been 20% for rude service, poor atttitudes and average food. He even told us NOT to come back if we didn't tip the...
Read moreThey do not have soy sauce!! That was what the server told us when we asked for it. The food is so bland we wanted to add flavor to it so we asked for soy sauce. One server gave us what’s in the picture, clearly it was not soy sauce. I asked a different server and again, they gave us the same thing-fish sauce! I called another server and she was not happy when I asked for soy sauce coz she said that in the picture is soy sauce. I said no, it’s fish sauce. She argued that it is soy sauce. I kindly asked to give me sauce for the steamed siomai, she said there is no sauce for that. Then she spoke in a language no one at our table understood but with the hand gesture, a shrug on her shoulders and a look that to us interprets “if you do not like how it tasted, then too bad”. I talked to her nicely and tried not to ruin my lunch time with my family and told her that soy sauce is dark in color and by the look itself and the smell, clearly what they gave us was fish sauce. And then in an attitude that I found very rude - she said, “we do not have soy sauce!” Where on earth can a Dimsum place not have soy sauce? We tried to finish our food to the best of our ability simply because we paid for it. On our way out, I purposely looked at the other tables and I found soy sauce on one. I called the server who told us they have no soy sauce and pointed to her - “that is soy sauce”. She said it is not soy sauce, it has sugar in it and it is called “sweet soy sauce”. What?!!!!
For the taste and service we got-there’s no reason to go back in there. Watch it. The moment you sit, they ask “what tea you like?” Look at your bill afterwards and you see $4.50 charged for that tea. It is so...
Read moreMy husband and i was just craving dim sum for dinner so we went over to the one attached to the Richmond's Centre mall.
Parking is shared with the mall parking so lots of parking in front of the restaurant. No fees.
There are 2 entrances on this location one is through the mall and one just faces the parking lot. The one attached to the mall won't have a greeter.
The server asks us to sit down wherever it's not busy we came around 5:45 pm but the server told us they close at 7 pm which is about an hour after the mall closes as it is a Sunday night.
The paper menu is on the table and you just basically put how many orders you want of each dish.
The order took a little bit longer as i believe they make if fresh for you. We ordered 6 different dishes from the menu. .Stuffed Eggplant ($17) - a little pricey. We got about 5-6 pcs. The flavour is there and I think the stuffing is fish cake. .Deep-Fried Spring Roll ($8) - Really stuffed and long pieces. we got about 4 pcs of these. .Steam Shrimp Dumpling ($8) - They stuffed this dumpling really well. Bigger portion but only 4 pieces. .Chicken Feet ($7) - about 5 pcs of feet. Good Flavour .Deep-Fried Shrimp and Mix Meat Dumpling ($7) - my husband enjoyed this. 3 pcs. The flavour is mixed salty and sweet. I just couldn't find where exactly the shrimp on this one cause it looks like all just meat. .Silkie Chicken and Tofu Roll ($11) - Never had black chicken before but very good. A little tough than normal chicken. The problem I have with this dish is the fact that I had to dig deep to get the meat on the chicken. Very messy to eat.
Overall, I think it's good but pricey. Server Damand is super nice! Very polite and...
