Where do I start with such an amazing place? Almost everything about this place is amazing no matter what it may be. From tables, environment, food, and customer service, everything exceeded my expectations.
My group of friends and I went during opening, and we were greeted with a lineup of loyal customers who were either equally as curious as us or have been eating here on a daily which to me is a good sign of a good restaurant. As soon as the restaurant opened, we got our seats and scanned them through the menu.
We ended up with their beef noodle soups, 2 spicy, and 2 regular with a different choice of noodles. I personally chose the ramen noodles as my friends chose the thick noodles. We also ordered drinks on the side, which consisted of peach tea, 4 seasons tea, and a lychee milk tea. Some sides we ordered were the salty nuggets (a recommended item from the staff), fried squid, and beef rolls.
When the food arrived, I tried the spicy beef noodle soup, and I must say, it has a good spice level, and the soup had a perfect balance of savory and light. The noodles clinged onto the spicy chilly oil, which gave a perfect bite each time. The beef was nice and big, flavorful, and not overcooked. Tip and trick would be to dip the beef rolls into the spicy soup before taking the bite. It elevates the flavors significantly.
The squid tentacles are a hit or miss for some, but if you love your squid, this is the dish for you! Light, thin, consistent batter packed with flavor and a nice crunch. Comes with a sweet chili sauce to add onto the flavor profile.
Salty (popcorn) nuggets were succulent, juicy, tender, flavorful, overall, a bomb of delight upon entry in my mouth. It's very satisfying and tasty, but I wished there would be a bit more complexity with the salt seasoning.
The beef rolls paired up with the beef noodle soup perfectly. One word that can describe the combo between beef broth and beef roll, "Perfection."
The drinks were also very good as well. I had peach tea, and it was an instant blast of refreshment from the summer heat and heat from the bowl on spicy noodles. It was not too sweet and came with a good portion. From my friends review, the 4 seasons share a similar effect. However, it's not the same for the lychee milk tea as the milk makes the drink less refreshing, and you can barely taste the lychee. Therefore, the lychee milk tea isn't recommended.
Overall, it was one of the best Taiwanese places I've been to in a while. If you want a place that doesn't disappoint, this is the place for you! Bring your friends, family, family friends, etc. You will have a good time! One thing to point out is that their customer service is amazing. There was a singular black dot on my napkin that I didn't notice as we were waiting for our food. The waiter spotted it from a mile away and gave us extra napkins immediately. That is a feat that I will always remember when I return to this place in the future. I highly recommend Uno beef noodle house, and I will be back...
Read morewe were here six months ago, and it did not turn out well. The popcorn chicken was cold and soft. The glass noodles were simply horrible. And the Taiwanese beef noodle's beef was dry and overcooked tough. We would have given it a one-star review but thought we should be sympathetic because it was a weekend and extremely busy at the time, with long lines formed outside the restaurant.
Six months later, yesterday, we waited until 3 pm on a Thursday, only one table was occupied; therefore, there should be no excuses whatsoever.
We ordered the most expensive noodle on its menu, the $23.95 "牛排麵 Uno Steak Noodle Soup." The broth was pretty good, the "thin noodles" were alright, and the beef was soft and tender despite looking very dry on the outside. However, the beef did not look medium-rare nor medium-well inside. We would think they were tenderized with chemicals instead. Not the ideal method I would want my beef to be, though, at least not at this price point. If this were a pricey Michelin restaurant, I would most certainly give it a big thumbs down, but I am content as it is. Just borderline content.
The $18.95 "三寶麵 Beef and Tendon and Tripe Noodle Soup" was pretty good. No faults come to mind. The beef, tendon, and tripe were all soft and tender.
The $9.25 "大肉卷 Beef Slice Roll" was delicious, but I don't like that it's sweet. Not extremely sweet, but nonetheless sweet.
noticed they also offer Chinese dim sum in its menu. Same price as typical Chinese dim sum restaurant but not a lot of selections. We haven't tried it. You wouldn't buy a Ferrari in a Toyoto dealership, would you? We would've if the price is substantially cheaper. But it's not.
I asked my wife how was her food. She replied, "It was alright." I then asked her if she would come again, and she replied, "Maybe in six months." There you have it, our thoughts on this restaurant.
PS. At the table beside us sat a woman (likely a mother, maybe a nanny) and two children, aged maybe six or seven. When the woman told them to eat, one of them asked in Mandarin, "Did you check for poison?" The woman seriously replied, "Yes." Doesn't that give you...
Read moreHighly recommend joining the virtual line up through google, especially during dinner time. Wait times sometimes could be as high as 1-1.5 hours. Broth seems diluted/watered down during lunch compared to 3 other times I’ve visited during dinner; not sure if it was an one-off
This has to be THE best beef noodle place in metro Vancouver; infinite times better than some other big name noodle restaurants in Richmond. Dined here twice, and the quality is consistent. Portion is more filling than it looks.
The broth is flavourful and savoury, and the noodles are chewy and absorbed all the flavours from the broth. There are 4 big chunks of beef shank meat pieces as well, which are tender and flavourful. Great portion at a great price, the bowl is only $14.95 plus tax.
The “Beef slice in Chinese Pancake” is also worth a try if you haven’t had this before; this place is one of the more authentic ones. Good portions of spring green onion and cucumber slices, and the sweet and savoury sauce is addictive.
Steam pork soup bun is super juicy. Sadly since it took 25 min to arrive after we ordered, and have already finished our big bowl of noodles, we couldn’t fully appreciate it as much as we would’ve liked. Definitely recommend leaving some room for this if you’ve ordered this as a side.
There is free 3-hour parking at the back (need to register plate number with restaurant) and street parking outside, and about 5 min walk from the Bridgeport bus loop/Canada Line station if you’re taking transit. I also recommend coming here if you’re staying/playing at the casino; it’s much better than what the casino/hotel offers, especially if you’re craving noodles on a...
