We saw a sign on the window "Manitoba's best pizza" the sign was made of poster board and sharpie so we figure it was legit. We noted said sign with intentions to return one day and try this pizza. Today was that day. We spent the day on the beach and ordered the pizza to pick up. When we arrived the place was packed! Which is great to see. I heard the cashier letting people know the wait would be an hour or so. The line up was very big with only one cashier so I didn't know how to get my pizza. It was probably ready and I couldn't find any staff to ask. I ended up finding a nice young lady and she said someone would call me name. So we waited. After sometime I just got in line to talk to the cashier. The place is literally packed and there was only one girl running around like crazy. I could see my pizzas sitting there the entire 15 minutes I waited in line lol. There has to be a better way. The staff that I did encounter were friendly and all, they are all just overworked. One cashier (only one til) one runner and one guy calling out orders in a restaurant that is packed with an hour wait... People shouting into the wind for cutlery and salt shakers. Our pizza was fine. Not warm, and lacking sauce, bacon was stringy so I couldn't chew it. Was it the best in Manitoba? No. Was it the best in gimli? I don't know. We would order it again, it was decent, it's just when ordering take out I would be hesitant just based on my experience. I feel like there should be a line specifically for take out orders. You have to go there to understand just how busy it is. Which I am sure you will because this place has awesome portions and people recommend it all the time. You should go there. I will go back. I just wish they had a better system and more staff in place to accomodate the high number of patrons they serve daily. I would hate to see this place go downhill because of people's experiences there. When you are that busy it is easy to let customer service and experience take a backseat. The people come either way right? Well too much of that and they will stop coming. Customer service is more important then good food and big portions. The staff you have were wonderful and polite, I just really think you need more staff and a little overhaul of the...
Read moreJust left about an hour and a half ago and I am not only beyond disappointed but absolutely disgusted by the way I was treated by the blond haired cook.
We ordered our food and when it was ready, the cook called our name. So we went up, grabbed the bag of food and walked out (we ordered it to go). Upon getting outside, we quickly, within 2 minutes of leaving, realized we were given the wrong order. I very nicely walked back in and said “excuse me, I’m so sorry but we were just given the wrong order” the owner asked the cook if she had handed it to us, which she responded “yes” but then proceeded to tell me that the order was not wrong. Here’s how the conversation went:
“You ordered that” “No I ordered 2 burgers and a poutine. This is fries and wings” “Well I called your name and you grabbed it from me. Should’ve checked to make sure it was right”
I was shocked. In what world is it MY job as a paying customer to check that my order is right?
I then said “I don’t understand why you’re blaming me when you made the mistake, I’m just trying to get what I originally ordered”
She then made a big sigh, walked back around the corner completely disregarding the situation and started mumbling under her breath.
I said “look. If this is going to be an issue, I want my money back and I will go eat somewhere else”
She then handed me the right order within 1 minute. SO, that clearly indicates that my order was ready and SHE packaged it wrong.
I will take time to say thank you to the owner who jumped into action to de-escalate the situation. Apparently this isn’t the first time she’s treated a customer like this. She apologized numerous times and I said “no hard feelings. Thank you” and walked out.
I have never been treated so poorly by a staff member as a customer and that will absolutely be the last time I ever give this business my money.
Cook, if you’re reading this: be better. Shame on you. Learn to treat people with respect or don’t work in customer service. I hope you never experience being so poorly treated because absolutely nobody deserves to be spoken to like that.
Owner, thank you again for apologizing many times but maybe this will be something you can reflect on when it comes to the choices of people that are...
Read moreI don't like giving negative reviews but after long contiplation , I felt that as a Google reviewer I must point out what I feel about an establishment with complete honesty while also being as respectful as possible. Good or bad.
That said, I was very dissapointed in this restraunt. The ordering method used is unique to say the least. It's what I would call "cafeteria style" you order at the front register and pay, then sit down in the cavernous restraunt and wait for your food to come. Not off putting , just different.
First , the good . The staff were (I think we delt with the owner) fun and out going. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. That's it for the good.
The bad was really bad, starting with the food. Everything and I mean everything was cooked in what I (and my Buddy) assume was old/bad cooking oil. It smelt like old tires and tasted just as bad. My toast (I had the breakfast) were inedible. As I was informer later by the server , even the toast were cooked on the grill in this oil. (See Pictures). My buddies wrap suffered the same fate and he just tore most of the wrap away from the ingrediants contained within and ate them with his fingers.
(On a side note , a couple just across from us had ordered some food and left without hardly touching it. The plate of "hash browns" they had were untouched (a healthy serving) so we tried a hasbrown each. They were just as bad as the rest of the food. This tells me that the deepfryer has old oil in it as well.)
The cleanliness of this establishment leaves a lot to be desired. I've include pictures of the men's washroom to illustrate this.
In it's current state , I would not recomend eating at this restraunt . And it pains me to say that because I have read some reveiws and was eager...
