New Village — Restaurant in Saanich

Well It was my first time to order here. I let her know and I was ripped off bad. I ordered $47.00 worth of food and I picked up because it is faster. When I picked up the 2 bags it was very light weight. I said are you sure everything is in here? she said oh yes its all here. I get home with hungry guests and I discovered 2 items sweet and sour pork and fried rice were in tiny plastic containers that were only single serving size, only held mabey 6 ounces and I was charged the price you would expect to get a bigger round tin foil pan size. The 2 items I was charged over $17.00 and I went back and demanded my money back for the 2 items. The lady was so rude and said thats what you get It took 10 minutes of arguing that it was unacceptable. She refused to give me a full refund and finally handed me only $10 dollars and told me to never come back. Which I never will order from there again. The chicken on the chowmein was not real chicken. Lunchmeat rubbery crap. It was to greasy and not very appetizing at all. So disappointing I will stick to my usual at the Red Lion inn. Wow, was having the worst day and didn't want to venture out too far. Checked this place out and was blown away. I was very indecisive when I went in and the lady helped me but put together a special combo/price for me. THEN as I was leaving, my bill came to $20.30, I present 2x$20 bills and she takes one and says 'nobody likes change'!! Can't tell you how much this made my night better and coming from a guy who had worked as manager/bartender for 13 years in three different countries, I can assure you I have had my share of experiences.

I ensured her that I will be back (and I will) because the food was amazing!! Especially the custom made mushroom/gravy they made me for my Almond Chicken! It seemed like a slow night but even if you expierience a bit of what I did, it is well worth the trip.

I've only lived here for 9 and a half years but this is definitely the best place for Chinese in Victoria in my opinion.

I walked into this place just needing a quick meal and that’s what I got. Their service was very fast and the pork fried rice was excellent. Additionally, the serving sizes are huge so you get a good amount for what you pay for. I would not recommend you order any of their chicken or meat dishes (just read the reviews), however if you stick to the rice or the soups you will enjoy your meal.
