Café Pistache — Restaurant in Saint-Lambert

Pistache Café is one of the most aesthetically pleasing cafés I've been to in Montréal and its surroundings. The coffee shop is beautiful, they have nice outdoor seating with fire if it gets cold outside and very comfortable chair.

One of my issues with this place is there "priority to people who are having lunch" tables from 11 to 2 PM I believe. I understand that some people come in to eat and there's barely any place to sit (the coffee shop is very small), but the problem here is that let's say I start studying there at 10 in the morning with my coffee, I'd have to move to another spot at 11 to give a chance for a potential client (maybe no one) to sit at the big table. It's a coffee shop after all, they should expect people to walk in and just buy coffee.

A second issue is the opening hours. I love encouraging local coffee shops but when they close early every day it's hard to sit for long hours and study as I would do at Starbucks and Second Cup. I understand that they're a smaller team though and it might be more demanding to open very late every day, but I think they could still profit from it.

I've been there a couple of times, but the last time I went I was a little bit disappointed and haven't had the chance to return since. It was September 14th 2018 at around 12:30 PM. The shop had me and two other clients and there were two employees working. I ordered my coffee, sat on a chair in front of the window and waited for my coffee. It took 15 minutes to get my iced coffee and that really turned me off since no one had warned me about anything not working or something like that...

As for the coffee itself, it is DELICIOUS. I always have an iced coffee with soy milk or almond milk and pay around the same price as my Starbucks coffee. The food is also great, they have gluten-free and vegan options which is great if you're lactose intolerant like me.

The staff is very friendly, brings your coffee right to you, very knowledgeable when it comes to their products as well.

Would definitely recommend if you're buying coffee on the go, during the summertime or if you want to sit outside on their beautiful little terrasse in the front. Wouldn't recommend for studying because it's truly tiny and the opening hours...

Une paire d’haltères à Saint-Lambert. En théorie, elles étaient à Longueuil, mais j’ai voulu préserver l’allitération. Ainsi, c’est une paire d’haltères dans un magasin d’équipement d’entraînement à rabais qui m’a expédié de l’autre côté du fleuve. Tant qu’à être dans le coin, autant en profiter pour sonder l’offre culinaire que renferme la ville, hein ! J’avais justement lu récemment un article qui présentait le Café Pistache comme une « institution », alors, après avoir récupéré mon colis, je me suis dirigé vers Victoria, puis sur Elm. Là, en face du café, au Parc du Village, une activité « cabane à sucre » organisée par la municipalité battait son plein, avec de nombreux enfants brandissant avec fierté leur tire d’érable, d’autres s’adonnant au lancer de haches… en plastique, pour les plus virils.

Le Café Pistache, quant à lui, recelait un écosystème bien différent, peuplé en sa majorité de jeunes universitaires, les uns les yeux rivés sur leur ordinateur portable, les autres servant le café. Le climat tempéré, les grands espaces, le décor sobre fournissaient un environnement propice à leur sédentarisation. Sans compter, bien sûr, le fait qu’on y sert de bonnes boissons qui revitalisent les neurones engourdis. Moi aussi, j’avais besoin d’un coup de fouet. Je me suis pris un café au lait orné d’une feuille élégamment décentrée, servi dans une tasse rouge.

Du côté de la cuisine, espace limité oblige, on offre un menu peu élaboré présentant des classiques : des sandwichs au fromage grillés, une rôtie à l’avocat, un sandwich déjeuner et un bol santé. La jeune barista, arborant une chevelure blonde flamboyante, me vante les mérites de ses deux derniers choix. Fidèle à mon penchant pour les recommandations, je fais d’eux mon repas. Présentation soignée, portions suffisantes par rapport au coût (10 $ pour le premier, 17 $ pour le second avec ajout de poulet), mais goût dans la moyenne. Un menu, selon moi, surtout pensé pour combler une petite fringale éventuelle.

Maintenant que j’y pense, il n’y avait rien à la pistache… Étrange !

Je décerne une mention spéciale au local pour le service diligent et empressé qui rend l’expérience globale encore plus plaisante. Je décerne en revanche une mention "déplorable" aux clients qui laissent trainer serviettes sur les tables et le sol... Allons, ramassez-vous un peu.

En conclusion, le Café Pistache (sans pistaches), plus qu’un simple distributeur de caféine, est en un où il fait bon se détendre, étudier/travailler et converser, et ce, au cœur de Saint-Lambert. À noter si vous vous trouvez dans...

I went with my sister and our friend and we ordered the avocado toast!! The salad on top was the worst thing we’ve ever tasted,the dressing of the salad made the whole toast mushy and taste weird, something on there was very very salty, we ordered it because we were like what could go wrong with avocado toast!! I’m so sorry but it was just awful. On the other hand the service was good the coffee delicious as usual we love coffee. It was just one thing the avocado toast, which normally we are fans of avocado toast it’s what we always order at cafes.Also the payment is before!! Which we put a tip as usual but we ended up just drinking our coffee and throwing our avocado toasts away even after paying all that...
