It was my (Ethan) first time in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, and after a long day of tour, I wanted nothing more and nothing less than to pass an hour over a delicious, exciting meal. Two options stuck out to me: either a well-acclaimed Japanese restaurant, or a new âseasonalâ restaurant next to it. The former was unavailable for unclear reasons, so I checked the latter. Immediately, I was overcome by the comforting feel of the small restaurant, with its intimate lighting and simple but quirky decorations. There were only two working at the establishmentâGuillaume and Marioâwho made me feel like friends from the first moment.
Needless to say, the provisions were more than excellent. I had never had steak tartare, probably out of some strange apprehension, but upon Marioâs beckoning to try anything new, I felt compelled to try it out. Every expectation, from the lowest to the most far-fetched, was exceeded. What a dish! The tartare: a full-bodied pepperiness, slight tartness, pleasant garlicky-ness, and surprising hint of sweet vanilla flavour that even an hour after I can still taste. It bites coolly, with a delicate chewiness, testament to the fraĂźcheur of the locally-sourced ingredients. The beef marrow, of course, was its ususal ever-comforting sweet, fat easiness that I so adore, but now there was a pleasant salt and crisp to it. The cocktailâsome version of a moscow mule whose name Iâve forgottenâstarted the meal I admit a bit awkwardly with its strong pepperiness, but worked in perfect concert with the meal.
As I assured the two that they will undoubtedly see me again, I left through the doors a bit cross-eyed and with a dumb smile, but I was happy and life was good. And an hour later, thanks to this great meal,...
Read moreThis is easily the best restaurant to open in the West Island in 20 years. Ste Anne, despite its fabulous location is generally bereft of great and interesting places to eat. Finally, a truly great place to eat and enjoy the surroundings. Itâs a small restaurant, inside has a few table and half a dozen or so spaces at the bar, but thereâs a comfortable patio out back with perhaps 12 or so tables. The music is fantastic, not too loud and perfect to my boomer tastes. We started with a bottle of orange wine, Petite Fleur, that was fruity yet very dry and refreshing, a perfect compliment to dinner and at just over $50, very reasonably priced. There wasnât one thing one the menu I wouldnât order. We were 4 couples and we each ordered 3 dishes per couple. Plus bread. Order bread per couple as there is lots of dipping to be done. The Hollandaise sauce on the short ribs was delicious. The gazpacho like symphony of sauce at the bottom of the burrata was fantastic. Every bite of of every piece of food is fresh! and well prepared. The sauces are plentiful and all delicious. The bread even comes with a tomato dipping sauce, which you should probably order another loaf for bread for! The order of lobster roll comes with two rolls, perfect for sharing. The tuna has little dollops of caviar on them and the watermelon salad is a great way to start the summer. Not to be missed is the cauliflower salad. If you like Indian spices, this will be your favourite way to eat cauliflower ever. We were 8 and shared two desserts, a healthy taste for everyone. The service is friendly, casual and professional. This is the restaurant the West...

The food and cocktails were nothing short of top-notch. We embarked on a journey of flavors by embracing the tapas-style concept, allowing us to indulge in four distinct dishes, each an embodiment of the chef's meticulous creativity.
The roasted cauliflower salad, with the exotic allure of ras el hanout created a harmonious blend of spices that imbued the dish with an irresistible aroma, while the pepitas scattered throughout provided a delightful crunch, creating a divine balance of textures.
The Ahi Tuna had a tenderness that rivaled the softest butter, showcasing it's unrivaled freshness and skillful preparation.
We could not help but marvel at how such seemingly simple ingredients could be transformed into something so extraordinary.
When the pulled duck bao buns graced our table, my partner knew that he was about to experience sheer gustatory ecstasy. The buns held within them succulent shreds of pulled duck that melted like divine ambrosia. The symphony of flavors unfolded with every morsel.
By the end of our extraordinary culinary expedition, we found ourselves not only satiated but also enchanted. The journey through this culinary haven had left an indelible mark, igniting a passionate desire to explore more and indulge further in the wonders of this extraordinary place.
