Used to be one of my favourite restaurants in Salmon Arm however after this incident I don’t think I’ll be back. Firstly, when we got our main dishes and 1 was incorrect which is not a huge deal mistakes happen- waitress offered a refill but about 1/2 an hour later another waitress brought the correct food but the drink never made it back. Asked for a water refill and as I was taking a sip I noticed a sliver of something at the bottom of the glass. Pulled the sliver out to examine it on the plate (thought it was a bug, boyfriend thought it was part of a shrimp tail) pointed it out to the waitress and she just said it was from a stick they used to make caesars. Ok? She goes to get the our bill and I look in my glass further to find some small grains which resembled what I thought maybe sand or poppy seeds. Pointed it out to her and she just said “oh that’s the salt from our caesars” very nonchalantly. How does 1 customer order a Caesar, then I get the same glass for water and I end up drinking their garnish? You should not be able to tell what the customer had consumed in the drink ware before you at a restaurant. Absolutely disgusting, especially right now. Food was good, waitresses were friendly but just really grossed out by that! Did not receive an apology for that, paid our total bill which was $80 and unfortunately will not...
Read moreWhile staying overnight in Salmon Arm we stopped in for dinner having never been before. The thing I remember most about dinner is that everything felt pricy. I can live with paying a premium for outstanding food but didn't feel like value for money was there. Nothing wrong with the food (not bad) or service (average).
You could do worse but you likely can also find better. I'm also typically not a huge fan of microbreweries and this one didn't change my mind. I think regular fans of small-batch beer may like their product. I may have liked the Dubbel, the Rasberry blonde, or the Honey red better but these were all sold out.
Craft breweries I enjoy are Fernie brewing company, Village brewery and Breakaway brewer in Summerland. Breakaway is worth the drive 👍. Yes Barley Station is a small brewpub and comparing them to Village and Fernie is a little unfair but Village and Fernie both started small. Breakaway is a small tap house and my favorite of my preferred 3.
The only highlight for me at Barley Station was that some dishes have haskap berries as an ingredient and that they sell haskap berry jam👌. A haskap cider would have been great to see🤔.
I think most would be happy with the food but I'm writing this review 6 days after the fact and can barely remember what we had, but I do remember...
Read moreMe and my friend decided to drive from Vernon and try somewhere different and she tried this place a couple years ago and thought it was really good. If there's new owners then it would explain why that's changed. We were told to grab a seat (on the patio) if we wanted which we did and waited and watched 2 other tables get served first. Ok whatever. We were sat for at least 10-15 minutes before even getting acknowledged and apparently our server said it was because someone spilled water????? Seriously?? We finally ordered drinks and a plate of lattice fries which took forever then came out yam fries so we had to wait again for the correct order. At this point we were done. I asked for an orange slice with my beer and got the most pathetic excuse of a tiny quarter piece of a triangle orange slice and the pastas(some almost $30) and you don't even get garlic toast. That's an extra cost. WOW way to really cheap out on those things the owner. We left and had a great and more affordable meal at another restaurant down the street. Don't think...
