It's pretty hard to critique this place because the service was pretty great, and I feel like there's untapped potential. We visited for a valentine's date and some effort was made to make it look festive but 3 massive TVs were on playing sports and "fails". The screens were so bright it was flashing on everything. I wasn't expecting a sports bar vibe so that was a big downer. Flowers, candles, TVs off would've been nicer. The food came out really fast, hot, and they even had a good priced date meal with app, mains, desserts, and drinks. The meal itself was 7 out of 10 because everything tasted purposefully bland. The deserts were mostly what my grandparents grew up on: rice pudding, brownie, or deep fried dumpling. The brownie was microwaved and turned super hard before we could finish it. I ordered a curry dinner and it was mild. I think there could have been cilantro, lime wedge, and veggies added. The server brought some spicy sauce to help me out. My hubby had honey glazed pork with only enough cabbage for decoration. The other option was chicken chow mein. The options were underwhelming because we expected a little more pizazz. I'm not sure if the chef is hesitant? We asked to have our food boxed up but our food never returned. While we were there, it was mostly boomer clientele. Maybe they were catering to a specific, milder, older, sweeter, palate. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to pack in a ton of flavour. While I'm not highly motivated to go back, I'm hoping for more flavour if...
Read moreIf you're open to trying something new, trust me, YOU WON'T REGRET THIS! This is a gem, eating here was an experience and not just a restaurant. They did not skimp on setting the atmosphere, the music and decor are a delightful balance of peaceful and exciting... even the seats are very comfy! As soon as we walked in the server (who turned out to be the owner!), Sweetkurti was so hospitable, she opened the 'garage' door to the restaurant to enjoy the lovely weather from inside. I ordered the KHANA SET, and holy moly, there were 9 side dishes alongside the rice and everything was fresh and delicious. And the owner took the time to explain the dish to me. If you love variety and a choose your own adventure with every bite, you won't be disappointed one bit. If you like to play it safe, I can also attest to the high quality of their STEAK too. The vegetables were fresh and the FRIES were perfect! For the same price as a burger, you could have this experience. The dishes were also the perfect portion, they were filling and a little EXTRA for the both of us. Please Sarnia, don't let this gem go under your radar. I hope they're around in 20 years! It was the perfect stop...
