Be Warned: Nestor’s whole wheat ā€˜bread’ is chock full of ultra processed ingredients and chemicals that should never be in bread - palm oil, dextrose, soy oil, propylene glycol, artificial flavour, mono-anddiesters of fatty acids… to name less than half of this goop that only a PhD in chemistry could fully explain. Things that have nothing to do with real bread. Your store-bought bread lists 20+ ā€˜ingredients’. Real bread should have less than five. What a sellout. What ingredients are in your other items? You should be ashamed calling yourself a bakery when you put out industrial waste such as this. I never thought a local source of baking would be as bad as the worst mass produced baked items we see in the major grocery stores. This is so incredibly sad and infuriating because I so wanted to support local, especially with the Ukrainian ownership here where I share Ukrainian Canadian heritage. I’ve been all over Europe and know first hand how fresh, real and uncompromising the baking literally everywhere is. There is absolutely no excuse guys. Do better.

I have always loved the donuts at Nester’s bakery ever since I was a kid! They were just as delicious as I remember them from the 80’s. I decided to stop by on a Saturday afternoon around 4:20. They were getting renovations done, so it was a little noisy and smelly inside. Despite the noise and smell, the service was very good. The lady at the counter was patient and kind. I wanted to note my time of arrival, simply because at this hour, the donuts for 30% off. Yippee!!! As you enter the store, it’s not a very big area but upon arrival, there’s a section with discounted buns and bread along with day-old donuts. I bought them along with the fresh ones and believe it or not my boys loved the day old ones just as much as the fresh ones. You can get a bag of four donuts for two dollars. I believe my total was a little over $12 with a discount I am paying paying $8.00!!!! Support local!!!

Poppyseed rolls: 6/5 because they were still oven warm when I ate one. Frozen pierogies and borscht 4/5 (5/5 reserved for grandma). Service was friendly and super helpful despite a busy Xmas weekend rush and it has the character of an old time bustling bakery. Definitely worth a special trip.

Worst customer service experience I’ve encounter in a long time! Extremely rude lady on the phone. She called to let us know our order wouldn’t be delivered on the day we had booked it for. We had a family supper planned that we then had to change plans for. We told them we would just cancel our order since they couldn’t deliver it. They didn’t refund the credit card and when we phoned back to ask about it. The rude lady was on the phone again and was shocked that we were asking about a refund! As if we were just going to donate $55 dollars to them when we didn’t receive anything!!! When they wouldn’t refund us we had to speak to someone other than the rude lady and asked that they then deliver our original order on another date. The man did apologize and offered to throw in some extras. The address to deliver was given three separate times, but yet on delivery day got another call from the very rude lady asking if we were going to come pick up our order. We said no, it was to be delivered, and her response was ā€œwell it would nice if we had a address!ā€ To which we then gave it a FOURTH time.

The baking from this bakery is decent, however, we will never order from them again and certainly will not recommend them to anyone due to the horrible customer service we encountered. They clearly need to hire someone new to answer the phones and a better way to keep track of orders and deliveries. And to refund clients if they cannot...
