Tandoori Tadka (Saskatoon) — Restaurant in Saskatoon

Went in there on a Tuesday night for my second visit to this place. To be honest, quite surprised with the numbers of tables they had on a Tuesday Evening ( great sign for any restaurant)

Food Me and My friend ordered paneer tikka, chicken malai tikka, Dal makhani and Chicken lababdaar . Food was good but nothing exceptional, great for Saskatoon dining though. The paneer tikka was a little too spicy and a touch dry. Couldn't experience any other flavours becoz of how spicy it was.Everything else was good though.The best part of the meal was Rasmalai.The onion salad was exceptional too probably the best of lot.

Service I think they were a little understaffed for the evening.If the restaurant has to stand out from the rest, than this is where they need to focus on. Our appetizers took a little while to arrive. Upon asking why is it taking so long, we were told that they cook it in clay oven not the microwave.Although, I appreciate the Information provided but one could feel a touch of arrogance in it ( not required or necessary when you are a month old in the business). And when we did got the appetizers, our main courses were served even before we could finish the appetizers. I am sure we did not mention that we were in a rush to eat and leave. Service do need a lot of work. I guess having an extra person would have helped. Service is the key when it comes to restaurants, and it could be the decisive factor between a good and a great restaurant. Pay more attention on service as you have the food to establish yourself in the city.

Wouldnt have given it a 4 star if it was any other restaurant but since they are new and trying to build a rapport, everyone needs a little support.But that tongue in cheek reply from the staff do creates a little doubt about their vision...

Went there for the first time- Loved the food so went again with friends. This is definitely a fresh welcome for Indian food to a city like Saskatoon. Coming from Delhi, India, I usually have high expectations from restaurants in Canada (and sadly have been disappointed with many restaurants in Saskatoon). We've so far tasted quite a few things from the menu- matar paneer, bhindi (Okra), chicken lababdaar, saag paneer, tandoori chicken, garlic and plain naan. I would rate it overall as "great food"- you can smell and taste the freshness in the dishes (not like the pre-cooked heat and serve nonsense concept shoved to customers in other Indian restaurants). Chicken lababdaar was a bit too sweet (more like the butter chicken sweetness)- I wish it was more towards the masala-flavorful type. But everything else gets my 9/10 rating. The Tandoori Chicken IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE!!! The best Tandoori chicken by far in Canada- the chicken is soft/tender (which is how authentic Tandoori chicken is supposed to be) and the delicious marinate keeps the tandoori chicken juicy even after it is fully cooked and served! Hospitality= 9/10. Great staff- very friendly. Wonderful ambience too- Great place to dine with friends and family.
