I used to come here every couple of months for work and always ate here but had a break for a couple of years and it used to be very good. I was very disappointed this time. First, the fact that they are closed for in restaurant dining is not on their website and when i called for a takeout order, they only told me at the end, that I should come to the backdoor. Have you been to this location? Luckily, the sun was still out because I would have just cancelled my order. The back of any restaurant is generally not customer friendly and this is not an exception. You walk into a small blocked off musty storage area separated off by a small table and what I think was a bedsheet.
I should have left but I was so hungry and not alot was open on Queen. The other warning bell was that familiar sound of the microwave door slamming every once in a while. All I want to hear in an Asian restaurant kitchen is the roar of the burner and the metal on metal woking, especially for what I ordered.
The prices have gone up ALOT. That, I can live with. Restaurants have struggled, sure. But when you see the prices go up 20-25% and the portions go down too, then you're like, really???
I had an appetizer for nearly 10$ that were the size of my thumb. My main tasted stale if not rancid. Either the crushed peanuts or the frying oil used was definitely old. It left a horrible taste in my mouth and i could not finish. Also, the dish i got was a poor POOR version of the dish i ordered. I've had it here in the past. This tasted like raw cupboard spices fried on noodles. Also they used the very very thin noodles that all clumped together. There was no sauce that comes with this dish. It was dry dry noodles with raw spice taste. It was awful. There was a decent amount of protein but there was very very little vegetables. no bean sprouts, maybe 5-7 pieces of thin bell pepper and onion. Not as described.
I do not recommend you get take out here. They should move pick up to the front like lots of people did during the pandemic. I did not feel safe going to that back door. They need to improve the quality of the food and check on age of the ingredients. It was expensive for the...
Read moreI will NEVER go again and neither will the people who were with me. I was DENIED A MEAL by the owner after politely communicating to the server about my meal being freezer burnt. I told her there was an unpleasant plastic/stale auromatic smell and taste to my food. The red curry sea food dish clearly had freezer burnt items that over powered the texture and taste. I was not angry; and thought by telling the server, I was doing the restaurant a favour. This is what happened... After 5 minutes, the owner had the odasity to walk over to our table with my old dish in hand, and asked what was wrong with it; followed by her telling me SHE IS NOT GOING TO RETAKE ANY ORDERS FROM ME BECAUSE ALL HER FOOD IS FROZEN AND SHE CAN'T TRUST ME TO LIKE IT AND NOT RETURN IT! Outside of blowing a fuse, I had her verbally confirm her actions of not taking my new order and SHE DID. BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS, I SHOULD OF LEFT AND NOT PAYED. All my life I treat people with respect and this was no different. I agreed to NOT re-order any food. I let my friends finish up their meals. I paid for everything except for that dish. I asked the server if she has to split tips. She said yes, so I gave 0% tip and asked her if she had five minutes to talk outside. She did and was very apologetic by the situation. As she apologized there was a $20 dollar bill on the floor; she asked if it was mine. I said no but told her to keep it. Luck has its way of finding good people. As for her boss and restaurant owner, NEVER AGAIN...
Read moreAbsolutely ripped off. The tatse for Pad Thai (lunch meal) and Golden curry were so so, the wonton soup was tasteless (both soup and wonton), felt like water. The spring roll was the best - but nothing outstanding.
To be honest the food was not too bad but there was no Thai taste here. We're big fans of Thai food and we're so disappointed with both quality and quantity here. The price was too expensive. We believe as this is one of the few Asian restaurants in the area, that's why it can survive.
We only had picture of beef Pad Thai ($13.99) and the bill - portion too small, not much meat. Curry was better a bit but we had to pay $3.5 for a small portion of steamed rice to eat with it - never happen in my life.
Just to clarify, when the server asked what I chose to eat with curry - I said steamed rice because ALL Thai restaurant I ate before offer free rice with curry. I never thought that I had to pay for that. My fault for not reading the menu carefully but again - ripped off.
Stay away from this restaurant. Subway or Tim horton is a muchh better choice....
