Pickles & Olives Bistro — Restaurant in Scugog

I made reservations for two ppl on a recommendation from our AirBnB.

Our waitress took closer to 10 minutes to even come over and say hello. Thankfully the menus were on the table, bc by the time she arrived we were ready to order! The lighting is super dark and I had a hard time reading the menu.

We ordered pizza and manicotti.

We waited over 5 minutes for our cesar and can of sprite...may have been closer to 10.

My daughter dropped her glass (many customers looked over). She began crying (she is 9). I had to clean it all up with our 2 napkins. Not ONE staff member came and offered help. We were seated beside the well-staffed bar area.

Another 10 minutes and the waitress brought us bread (in reality it was 3 rolls) with olive oil and vinegar for dipping.

I handed her our soaked napkins and she brought us a new can of pop and dry napkins (thank you) and left me with a dry washcloth to finish wiping down the table area more. (Gee thanks ?)

When our food arrived, pizza looked great. Manicotti looked delicious but was cool. Not cold, cool. On the inside. Disappointing. I ate it anyway.

The waitress never came back to ask if our food was good or if we needed anything else. She waited about 20 minutes before we saw her again. We asked for a dessert menu.

10 minutes later she finally came back with our leftover pizza and asked what we wanted for dessert. At that point, my 9 year old (who loooves desserts) had already said "i guess she forgot about us again. I dont want dessert anymore."

So when she returned we said no dessert and just the bill please.

Guess how long that took? About 10 seconds. SECONDS. I gave a tip, but it was more for i know serving staff dont make much and the food was O K.

Would I return? Nope. Would i suggest them? No.

Unless you want a pizza or a cesar...then yes. But only if you like...

We had dinner on Friday September 9/22. We were seated at a table for 2. Greeted politely by the server. Drinks were served. When she came back to take our order, we were asked if we had read the menu board. When were asked her to resite the menu listing, she rambled on. We gave her our order. Strip loin and chicken Marcela. It took awhile for dinner to arrive. Our table was for 2. We could have used a larger table as everything was jammed on the table. We enjoyed our dinner. After finishing it took her forever to clear our plates. Although I saw her standing at the corner chatting with 2 of her Co workers. She finally came. We ordered expresso and coffee with desert. As this restaurant is upscale I expected upscale service. Our coffees came first and then about 10 minutes later our desert. The server placed our deserts in front of us and placed the cutlery in a paper serviette in the middle if the table. I found this extremely unprofessional! Desert was good. But we could not enjoy desert with our coffee as we expected. We paid our bill,usually when paying servers, will turn around or stand back giving the payer privacy while doing the transaction The server just stood there while my husband paid for dinner. Would never go back to this restaurant. Went there Friday night around 7:30 on my way to the cottage lots of empty seats. They asked if I had reservations and we said no. They said sorry we have no room available but if you like you could sit on the patio. I said is it not cold I'm dressed sleeveless. They said no its got heating lamps. I said ok. They sit me and my son right beside the door with no heat lamps. I figured we will just eat and run. It took them 17 minutes to take are order. Almost an hour goes by no food. By this time I am frozen. I will mention they had no problem serving drinks. I go to the front to complain and they said your food will be out soon. I said I am frozen I have been out there over an hour with no heat lamps. Why would you tell me it was warm outside when it was freezing cold she just nods her head. I look around and there is lots of empty seats inside cause it is now after 9 and would not let me sit inside and eat are food. I walked out and grabbed a pizza at Papa Land which was probably a lot better. Worst customer service ditzy staff busy talking among each other. Go to Jim Italian food down the street...
