My wife and I has a mixed visit last night. Really enjoyed the music, it was a bit loud for the small area and number of people there but Todd is very good. There was only one song I couldn't identify. The food was not as good as I hoped. The potato skins were cold and an odd number on the plate. I've never seen that before. Usually, there is an even number. They were good but would have been better warm. I ordered a steak sandwich. The steak was done medium as asked. The problem was the steak was a little tough, compounded with the lack of a steak knife, was an issue. I also had to season it with salt. The fries were great. Nice to have malt vinegar. Ordinarily, I would have sent the steak back. I didn't because a member of our party had created a scene and gotten herself kicked out. I feel that the working manager tried her best to deal with the situation. My wife and I were embarrassed with our friend's behavior. I'm not sure if the manager could have calmed the situation down, our 'friend' was certainly not helping. The manager could benefit from additional training dealing with problem customers. I do hope that the manager doesn't get punished for the way she handle a bad situation. She just needs more coaching and experience. Read moreThe Crooked Mouth pub is an absolute hidden gem located in Sherwood Park. My wife & I were greeted warmly by Dean Campbell, the owner, when we walked in to his mostly empty establishment at around 5:00 pm on a Saturday. Within 40 minutes, however, it was evident it was not “hidden” to his rapidly filling bar & restaurant as he and his amazing staff greeted several customers by name. By 6:00 pm it was comfortably ¾ full.
The menu leans to British pub fare and is extremely value oriented. I had a steak sandwich & my wife had the 2 piece cod supper, complete with chips (fries) with a side of green peas. Both dishes were absolutely excellent with generous portions & a perfectly grilled steak.
Marissa, the bar maid (I hope that term is not offensive) stopped at our table and we had a wee chat about weekly events such as “Trivia Night” and other nightly special events.
All in all it was extremely pleasant with excellent service, food & dessert.
Highly, highly...
Read moreOscar's Pub was recommended to us by friends we were in town to visit, who are very health-conscious. Our group of two adults and two tweens each ordered a different dish for lunch and were extremely impressed with the speed, quality and flavour. The potato and sweet-potato fries were flying across the table in a 'you've-got-to-taste-this' frenzy. For pub fare, it was not at all greasy--yet still perfectly scrumptious! Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and did not give up on me when I kept insisting my Teriyaki Chicken Burger did not need sauce (mayo), having to check back with me three times before I realized my error and that I did indeed want some Teriyaki with my Teriyaki Burger. Our table was offered a few sweet treats at the end of our meal which made our lunch extra special. The menu was well-priced too. All-in-all, a five star experience...and now we have two reasons to return to...
