So we've been trying to eat the Tonkatsu Ramen at Teppan Taro for 3 times where each time we try to order they tell us it's just sold out (who sells out at 7:30pm?!?!) and it blew my mind when they told us we should call to reserve it. So I did last night and finally got to try it...
Before I continue, let me first start with the fact that we are ramen fanatics and we try ramen all over Edmonton and Calgary. So our Ramen bar is set pretty high already. So far most of the other things that we've eaten here has been surprisingly really good. Surprising because in Sherwood Park there aren't many Japanese restaurants that have served quality and authentic Japanese food. We've tried the sushi and udon and both were really good, surpassing many places in Edmonton.
Back to the ramen. It raised my expectations even more when the chef himself brought out the ramen for us with this subtle proud smile. It smelled absolutely wonderful. The slices of pork were perfectly sultry and so tender it melted in my mouth. The ramen noodles were cooked just right and the broth was so pleasingly hot especially for a cold night. Their use of bacon peices to further flavour the broth was genius.
It was absolutely THE best ramen my wife and I ever had. Ever. Well done...
Read moreRestaurant Review: Japanese Village – Sherwood Park, AB I recently visited Japanese Village in Sherwood Park for my birthday, and it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. This was my second time dining there, and it truly lived up to the memories I had from my first visit.
The chef was not only incredibly skilled but also hilarious, keeping us entertained with jokes and tricks while preparing our food right in front of us. It really added to the atmosphere and made the wait feel like part of the experience.
This time, I ordered the teriyaki beef, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. On my first visit, I had the shrimp misonaise—while it was rich and decadent, it ended up being a bit too heavy for my tastes. The teriyaki beef, however, hit the perfect balance.
As it was my birthday, the staff surprised me with a complimentary ice cream and even sang "Happy Birthday" in both English and Japanese, which made the evening feel extra special.
All in all, the service, entertainment, and food were excellent. Japanese Village is a great choice for a celebration or a fun night out, and I will definitely...
Read moreWent to Japanese village in Sherwood Park for the first time in Sat night myself my wife and our best friend . First time experiance and overall a decent one but there was a few things I didn't like which is why I gave it 3 stars .Service was good chef was friendly and funny but the problem came when there was 3 of us and another rcouole at the table .Each of the parties had one person who ordered beef while the other 3 people ordered chicken .Food was great tasting and super fresh but the 2 with the beef had their protein way before the chicken came up and all veggies were served at once which by now the beef had been sitting there a while getting cold or you had to eat it alone .I feel the chicken should have been cooked first as it takes longer and then the beef so all people are together this was a bit of a disappointing feature .also the veggies were served and there was about a scoop of each left so who ever wanted them had to say me and hope for the best ,why weren't they divided equally can to start . Like I said food quality food and service but for the price should have been times a bit better not sure if I...
