Mid as heck tbh. Go in the summer, waste of time and money if you’re trying to dine in the dark months. Sooke timeshare atmosphere with no ambience plus the tables are too close together. Had 4 service staff greet our table yet they couldn’t find the hands to run all our entrees at once, table of five yet they brought one dish then two then two, it’s not rocket appliances. Spent over 300 dollars on food and wine but the bread was still underproofed which is bold coming from a place that charges 8 dollars for half a boule (I’ve spent years working as a baker/ pastry chef and this loaf was not only underproofed but also stale.) Halibut cheeks were also overcooked and rubbery, and drowning in a boring broth with vegetables that were cut in such a way that I was under the impression the cook no longer cared, disappointing because I was looking forward to clapping them. Tartare is also gone from the menu which is sad because that and the charcuterie board are fantastic. Idk probably wouldn’t go back unless I had to. A year ago I was recommending this place to everyone I talked to about V.I. restaurants, but this place will no longer come up in conversation amongst me and my chef peers. Not worth it for the trip anymore, thus is the cycle of CRD restos it seems. Strong open for about a year and then food quality steadily wanes until the doors close, seems like it’s only a matter of time until this place meets its untimely demise. Sad. Dessert was great but at 18$ for a portion it really...

We ordered take out from this restaurant based on the reviews and primarily because we have 2 young children we needed to feed a good quality dinner on a late evening. We paid for food $95! The main meals we received (pasta, polenta) were basically appetizer size (and on a very small size even for an appetizer). The quality of the food was perhaps 5/10 for the price charged and given the fancy advertising on the web. The pappardelle pasta was somewhat a decent dish and the reason why this review got 2 stars. The biggest disappointment was the vegetarian, wood fire-oven baked pizza! (they do indeed have an impressive fire-oven at the entrance)... The crust was half done - basically an incompletely cooked chewy, undone crust, with a very spongy texture for the crust edge! The cheese on it was an interesting texture and looked terribly greasy... there were some scattered half cherry tomatoes on it, a few round slices of green zuchinni and a small bunch of greens in the middle. The pricey, fancily named Peruvian pudding desert priced as $15 was terrible and tasted like packaged chocolate pudding from a grocery stored scooped right out of the package and poured into a jar with a red berry sauce and a dash of whipping cream from the tube. A big disappointment for the food quality we expected to have! The size of the portions, food quality and the high price are...

An island gem! We were absolutely ecstatic with our anniversary celebrations at Wild Mountain; an outstanding farm-to-table restaurant! From the warm welcome by the attentive host to the stunning view from our table, everything was flawlessly executed. Loved the airy and cosy vibes! The servers were both knowledgeable, and very friendly. We made the decision to explore a variety of dishes, which was met with exceptional service. The cocktails were phenomenal!

The cured salmon bites, crispy polenta fries served with a kimchi dip were an exquisite start. In addition, we got the Wild Mountain sourdough bread with cultured butter and onion/cauliflower spreads was tasty. The Ricotta & Garden Herb Gnocchi was a melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece, while the Wild Spring Ling Cod impressed with its unique broth’s flavours and abundance of fresh vegetables. Additionally, the vegetable wood-fired pizza was the best we’ve ever had! I really appreciated that it showcased delectable veggies and béchamel sauce, which was unique in my opinion! Lastly, the ice cream bar was the perfect dessert.

It’s not a surprise that Wild Mountain won the island's best restaurant award! To be honest, it's well-deserved! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're celebrating. The ambiance and delicious food are for sure to leave you with a...

We come here once a year for a special occasion and it never, EVER fails to delight. We love how everything is made in house from super, super local ingredients and tonight was no exception. Besides exceptional drinks, also got: - Cowichan beer tartare: The smoked olives were devine and the ozette potato chips were the perfect pairing - Roasted wild lingcod: The wild coho roe's burst of oceanic salinity with the sorrel emulsion was something else, and the lingcod was so moist yet with a crispy exterior that was sublime - Housemade pappardelle: Before coming here, almost made a reservation at Il Covo Trattoria downtown as we were craving some Italian food, but goodness — this was perfect (braised beef and BBQ pork rib ragu). The giant mound of Saltspring herbed chevre was incredible. Of course, the cozy ambiance and super friendly server were icing on the proverbial cake (too full for dessert unfortunately but the dessert menu looked so impressive)

Wild Mountain is one of the most special restaurants I’ve ever visited. From the idyllic setting looking out over the water next to the ingredients they grow in their table-side garden, to the thoughtful and expertly crafted wood fired dishes, it’s a top tier experience. Their willingness to support local farmers (right down to the grain for their pizza dough) is absolutely admirable. Their staff are always friendly, personable, and generous without being overbearing. The cocktail list is as seasonal as the rest of their menu so expect a treat to match the weather. Their focus is primarily on sustainably farmed wines from BC, made without adjuncts - it’s the perfect foil for their delicate but vivid style of cooking. I can’t wait to go back.
