Terrible Experience -
We recently visited Dave's Pub and Grill, and I must say it was a huge disappointment. The entire experience was subpar, and I cannot believe the lack of attention to detail in both their food and service.
First and foremost, the chicken wings were served cold, making it nearly inedible. It was evident that no effort was made to ensure the dishes were properly cooked and served at an appropriate temperature. Upon asking the waiter the wings were re-heated but this time around they came our dried up — The flavors were muted, and the texture of the food suffered greatly due to the lack of proper preparation.
On top of the cold food debacle, the service was utterly abysmal. The waiter seemed disoriented and unorganized- each time the entire table as a whole would want to lance an order for a item she would just take one order and go to the computer , then we would wait and she would come back and ask if anyone else wanted something and we would say yes , you walked away before we could complete our order — this went on a few times !!
We ordered the foot long chilli dogs — they were no good if anyone is wondering -
The Taco Salad : dry beef . Poor taste
The spinach salad : don’t even bother -
Nachos were the only thing that was remotely okay .
I cannot emphasize enough how disheartening this experience was. Dave's Pub and Grill completely failed to meet even the most basic standards of a dining establishment. Cold food and poor service should never be tolerated, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place altogether. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that value their customers and take pride in delivering a pleasant dining experience. Save your time, money, and taste buds by staying far away from Dave's...

I did complain via email but was informed I was the only compliant. The food would not have met heath unit standards for safe holding temp, that's for sure. My next horrible experience was the spa which cancelled my appointment as I walked in the door at 9am. Followed by the more recent visit to Dave's pub and grill where I was determined to use every last penny of that gift card or give it to someone else dining so I never had to return. I have been there 3 times in the past year trying to use up a gift card.
The menu has drastically changed,no longer offering the pub food it once did. Portions are very small and expensive. The pork tenderloin was good. Dessert was the real icing on the cake... cheesecake, crème brulee, or tiramisu. The crème brulee was store bought, the stuff you can buy from your neighbourhood grocery store, rip the foil top off sort of thing. When we asked the waitress about the food she claimed it is all home made. My mom could not keep quiet after that comment as the dessert still had remnants of the foil top that had been ripped off just prior to serving. The waitress admitted the desserts are store bought because the chef likes the glass dishes they come in. Ugh. Never have I ever paid so much for a store bought dessert i could've had 4 of for the same price, and never have I left a restaurant still hungry. The Oakwood used to have a good reputation as a classy venue with high quality food....
Read moreGoogle suggested this restaurant as we were taking a Sunday drive in the Grand Bend area. Since Main Street traffic was quite tied up with beachgoers, it seemed a good idea to try Daves's out at the Oakwood Resort. I have to say the service was good, the menu had a variety of choices. They were, however, out of a couple items: mussels and fish& chips. The mussels I can understand, but fish & chips is such a basic.... We chose the breaded deep fried avocado wedges for an appetizer. It was tasty, I enjoyed it, but for $15.99 (!) I expected more in both quantity and presentation. It was set on a bed of arugula that was limp and past its best before date. The wedges would have been the eqivalent of a small avocado, and looked lost on the plate. For my main course I chose the watermelon and feta salad, which was delicious, light and refreshing. It was a perfect blend of watermelon, feta and thinly sliced prosciutto on a bed of fresh (!) arugula with a light dressing. I personally would have liked a little more of the melon, as it was a little sparse, however the flavour was lovely and the plated portion satisfying, although it still seemed a little pricey at $17.99 for a salad. This one is a hard call for star rating. I had no issues with the venue or staff. The food was tasty and enjoyable. Overall, though, I felt there was a disconnect between quantity, presentation and price, and I'd like to see them...
