Service: To the obviously New Canadian waiter: Overtly using the term 'sir' loses its genuine and respectful nature when used twice in every sentence. Once in the whole night is enough. Very common for those in your culture. Also, take a minute to find out if I WANT to hear the specials and, out of respect, save you and me some time and effort. I knew what I wanted and you rattled through all of the specials without even asking if I wanted to hear them. Service: In an empty restaurant, ask ME where I want to sit, and don't seat me at the table facing the only other two occupants so I basically can overhear their conversation of lies to each other, and whoever that one guy talked to on the phone promising they just stopped somewhere downtown for a quick bite to eat when they'd been there 30 minutes (he claimed to "not know where he was" even though he knew the manager very well). I should not know those things about people, but because I had one leg practically in the kitchen and one at their table, I have this intimate knowledge. Greeter: When I come in the restaurant, give me space. A guy was talking to the manager and had his hand on the door. They both looked at me like I was interrupting them, and I had to ask if the place was open before I was properly greeted. Then they sat me in the kitchen. Food The canneloni tasted like plain, unseasoned hamburger wrapped in a wet tortilla smothered in cream of mushroom soup. Fairly bland. But that's what twenty bucks gets you, I guess. The coffee was pretty good and I ordered a second one and the manager got stressed and asked me to take the coffee to go. Jesus. Leave it man. I am adult. I am done, coat on, paid and headed out the door, I have already decided what I want to do with my unfinished dregs of coffee.
Labelled Fire Escape Doors should open outwards into the street, not inwards. Maybe there was a stipulation made in Saint Albert's french section by their fire department for this, but this feature has proven to be unsafe in large capacity rooms.
Get the new waiter to take some chill. He wouldn't even make eye contact at any point in the evening. He had a job and was doing it despite what I wanted from him. It is not the way to own your place. I felt bullied and unincluded in any interaction with this dope.
I expected more from this place, and my last two visits have been like this.
Choose better. Train...
Read moreVisiting St ALbert and located a quaint friendly Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. We received warm grilled bread and got the balsamic vinegar and olive oil to dip, flavors were so amazing. Mussels to have as an appetizer highly recommend. The tomatoe sauce was so rich and flavorful and the fresh garlic and olive oil, I dipped the bread and sipped the sauce on a spoon. Mains were Gnocchi with italian sausage. My daughter loved it. The gnocchi tasted like pillows of clouds in your mouth. She said the sauce was creamy with the spiciness of the sausage. My husband had the rigatoni with spicy sausages. The flavours were fresh and all the spices enhanced the homemade tomatoe sauce. I had the chicken stuffed with carmelized onions and mushrooms with a pesto cream sauce. I chose the spicy tomatoe basil sauce with penne pasta. Amazing. I apologize for not naming the correct name for the dishes and I hope my descriptions will entice you to enjoy a nice evening out to am amazing family run business with roots that go longer than the 2 bottles of Chianti we shared. Please support your local businesses that are trying to bring back their old and new customers. The next time we are in Alberta visiting our daughter we will definitely stop in for a great meal, friendly owners and staff. Give them a visit and share your experience. I am hoping to go one more time before we leave Alberta this week. Thanks Sanremo for an experience I will share with my family and friends in Ontario. Cheers to all if those who visit your wonderful...
Read moreOrdered the Fusilli Fantasia. It was undercooked, tomato sauce was bland and vegetables were soggy. The bread was bagged bread. It was the same quality as Olive Garden or worse but for a higher price. It's not fresh.
After the meal I was asked by two people who work there how it was, I did tell them it was terrible. It felt awkward and their advice was to tell them sooner and they would have made it better.
They also haven't updated their menus. My meal was listed at $18.50 but rang up $19.50. same with the other diners in my group.
There is too much to fix for me to ever want to go back.
It's all good, I could see the quality is no were close to Luisa Risto just down the street. I'll stick to them. I feel more comfortable with the staff and the food is a five star.
Update: If you enjoy being gaslite about your experience, management will be happy to tell you they are not wrong and you need to be grateful for what they give you. If I ever lower my standards and lose all self worth I might give...
