Brass Monkey Local — Restaurant in St. Catharines

My husband and I went to the Brass Monkey Local for the first time tonight. We happen to be wandering Downtown St.Catharines and it caught our eye. Came into a cool 90's modern inspired bar. Very cool atmosphere. Myself had the brass monkey and asked the waiter what it was and he gave us the low down and I was not disappointed it was fantastic. The owner and staff were great guys to be around and had great conversation. We came for the beer but decided to try the caliuflower bites. These were amazing! Highly recommend as an appetizer for sure. We will be coming back for either take out or dine in next weekend for a main course. It came up it was my birthday and they brought me a deep fried twinkie drizzled in chocolate. As a 33 year old woman I was not going to turn this down it was very thoughtful of them and reminded me of being at a carnival and I loved every minute of it. walked into this place with about 10 of my friends, all came in with good energy and ready to spend a lot of money on drinks. Miss blonde haired bob bartender was extremely unpleasant, she told us all to sit down in different tables because she could not accommodate all of us, which is fine because it was busy but she was so awful at the way she said it, did not greet us, was not nice at all. she also said very rudely that if we want anything that it has to be ordered at the bar.. girl we sat literally a foot away from the bar. so so so rude. unfortunately for her she did not receive our service, we left right away because of her awful attitude. safe to say the 10 of us will never be back and will never recommend this bar because miss bob was...

My wife and I stopped in last night before heading to Cirque du Soleil, and we were absolutely delighted by the exceptional service we received. We regret not catching her name, but she wore a Nine Inch Nails sweater and glasses. As my wife so perfectly put it, her presence felt like a warm hug. It was a pleasure to watch someone so naturally gifted at their profession—she had a way of making everyone feel welcome, and it became clear that many guests were there just to see her. In all our years of dining out, and there have been many, we’ve never been treated with such kindness and genuine hospitality. We’ll certainly be back as often as we can.
