I've now tried Wind as well as East and I keep coming back here because the price to quality ratio is quite simply the best I've had.
For those of you who havent been to an all you can eat sushi establishment, you basically order very small quantities of food rather than a full-fledged meal, like a single mussel or a single skewer of beef. As such, the experience is much more like an array of samples you can order again if you like them, and you really can try almost everything on the menu if you've got a big enough stomach.
That said, as far as all you can eat in St. Catharines goes, many of the things at Seasons aren't as high quality as what's served at the other places. The crab is sumiri, a type of imitation crab, and beef skewers are often overcooked. The shrimp is nothing special. But there's also a flip side to the coin - they have amazing raw beef and mussels. The mussels are the best I've had in my life and while many other places like it serve the raw beef still stiff and frozen, Seasons serves it a little chilled, but never frozen, with a great sauce.
The wait staff isn't perfect. Oftentimes I'll feel like they aren't as fluent as they could be or that they're a little stiff or dismissive, but the wait staff is almost never a huge factor in the experience at these sorts of places. They're more of a food delivery system.
The interior is dark with a lot of booths to sit at, and can be packed or nearly empty depending on when you go. And each booth has a glass pane coming from it that extends to the ceiling with some illuminated leaves in it, though with a name like Seasons I often find myself wishing for snowflakes and flowers and little suns too. They sometimes have a bit of a cleanliness problem, as the floors will be sticky or there will be stray napkins in the lobby, but those things aren't problematic enough to detract from my five star rating.
All in all, I'm a really big fan and have gone maybe ten times or so at this point. I cheat on it a little sometimes, because Wind has great rare teriyaki beef, but it's probably always going to be the place I'm a...
Read morethis place is a waste of time. I'm never one to bash restaurants because I appreciate the service and the industry and all that goes into it, but this place is dirty, covered in flies and little fruit flies, the servers barely speak English, no one comes around to fill up the waters and we waited 20 minutes for someone to do so. 5 of the items we ordered didn't come, and their excuse when we asked was that "when it's busy sometimes food goes to different tables", yet when we looked around only 7 tables out of over 20 were filled. the sushi is small and sloppy, and often not very good, the fish is an unpalatable warm temperature when its not supposed to be. the staff does not pay attention or care about their service. not to mention everything takes an insanely long time to get to you. also, when it was time for dessert, my father asked for a spoon for his ice cream which was not provided upon the foods arrival at the table. when the server came, he asked if my dad could use the spoon that I had previously used for my dessert. is that for a real? I can't believe it either. my dad politely said "yes that is a spoon but if I'm paying over $100 to feed my family dinner then I would like a clean one", and finally they brought one. it isn't difficult to wipe down a table or greet a customer even if it's fake. I've been here many times and tried to give the place a chance but it's been more and more disappointing each time. there was also no paper towels or toilet paper in the female or male bathroom. I will not be coming here again, and the increasingly popular opinion I hear that this place is "a waste of time" has fulfilled itself for me too. save your time and go to East or Wind, high quality and better service, and much better tasting sushi at that. sorry to write such a horrible review but this...
Read moreWe have ordered food from here many times over the years and have always enjoyed it for the most part. It had never been spectacular quality, but you always got decent quantity for value.
This time things were off, I found that the avocado cucumber rolls I ordered had slimy, transparent cucumbers, which is a clear sign they are past their best before time. But knowing it's not always top quality here, I shrugged my shoulders , removed them from the rolls and carried on. It Sucks, but we will survive.
But then I started to eat my vegetable noodles and oh my goodness!!!! The entire dish had mold all throughout the noodles. Just blackish/grey discolouration ALL THROUGHOUT the dish!!! I could not believe it. I almost threw up.
I called them immediately to inform them and they told me that it is not mold it is mushrooms. And if I want a refund I will have to contact Uber.
I then asked for the managers email and I forwarded the pictures and asked for some clarification on why this food left the premises at all as it is CLEARLY VERY SPOILED FOOD. And all they said was sorry for the inconveniences suggest I should contact Uber.
They have taken absolutely ZERO accountability for serving this food.
I then decided to look at their inspection report and found that not only do they fail routine inspections, but they also fail re- inspections AND RE-RE-INSPECTIONS!!???!
Clearly they have very poor knowledge on food handling procedures and I hope people stop and think before ordering from this place again.
I for one will never order from her again.
A dish of moldy noodles is too far over 'the quantity over quality...
