We are huge supporters of both locations in Hamilton have dined there many times. Coming home from the falls we decided to check out this location. We were really disappointed.
First off we waited quite awhile to be seated. No one greeted us. We had a toddler with us there was no offer of high chair or booster seat. When we requested a low top table they almost seemed annoyed, but can't sit a toddler safely at a high top table...
The service was very slow 30 mins to get our apps and another 40 mins for our burgers. It was not that busy. Our table didn't come with napkins or cutlery. The hostess or server didn't notice. We had to steal them from the next empty table. The table next to that one sat unbussed for most of our meal there which seemed very unprofessional.
Next the server got the order wrong and put mushrooms on my husbands burger and also forget my condiments on mine. When she came with the check ( which we requested before the burgers came because slow service) it was clear my husband had a heap of mushrooms he removed to the side, she never thought to ask "hey was everything ok with the food". We never sent it back because frankly service was so slow we couldn't afford to wait for a new one.
The burgers were dry compared to what we have experienced at the other locations.
All and all it was just very disappointing and not what we have come to know. Maybe it was a bad day or short staffed. It was Mothers Day, but all the more reason to have your best servers on top of things as its one of the busiest days on a restaurant calender. I also overheard the server commenting on the fact there was a lot of kids in that day. By no means do I think every place needs "family restaurant" vibes. But having some child accessible seating like boosters avaliable and knowing the pace of the meal needs to be picked up generally when there is young children as well as being sensitive to extra napkins could go a long way in making sure all types of customers...

The (s'mores) milkshake was more about presentation than actual taste, you could tell that it was cheap Nestle chocolate syrup, which you can make yourself for $1/ drink, not $16 each. Two s'mores were placed on top (4 graham crackers, marshmallows soaked in artificial tasting chocolate syrup, and graham cracker crumbs on the rim). Total cost to make is probably around $2! Business-wise, of course that's a great markup for profit. Pocket & taste wise , it was super disappointing. It could have been made into something great, for example creating two real s'mores on the top with a chunk of Hershey's chocolate melted with a nice warm marshmallow, maybe a piece of Hershey's chocolate sticking out the top for presentation, and a real chocolate tasting drink that doesn't leave the gritty artificial syrup lingering on your tongue.
Some of the food came out cold, had to ask for it to be heated. Night and day difference between taking a bite of the cold Burger, and the warm one. Yes, the service was good agreeing to bring it back to the kitchen with a smile, but that's something customers shouldn't have to ask for in the first place.
The place definitely has presentation down, but does that make up for prices? Not really. Two burgers, onion rings, one milkshake came to $70 +tip +paid street parking!
Everything is a la carte, so no main dish, like the $17 burgers, come with anything on the side (eg. fries).
The onion rings are giant, sure, but again, you probably get 10, which is one whole onion, and you're paying $12+. Eating 4 with the sauce uses it up almost entirely, and if you request more, they charge, but once you've had some with the sauce, they are fairly plain without, so expect to pay an additional $2 per side of sauce.
Went here based on photos from fellow reviewers - like I said, the presentation of each thing that comes out of the kitchen is great, definitely Instagram worthy, but...
Read moreSecond time is not a charm! We went this place the first time when it just opened, very nice place, the female server is friendly and patient to explain different options. The second time though is not good, this male server is not professional , the biggest problem here is that we ordered two magic mushroom burgers, mine with waffle should be medium and my friend should get the well-done one. He just misremembered, my waffle one is well done, my friend who cannot have raw meat got the pink. Second problem is the miscommunication between their servers, when we enter the place, we said we have four people to the server encountered us, and four glasses water were served, fine, our last member was late, and the three of us ordered first, the male server took the order in such hurry, fine maybe it’s very busy, but he just took away one of the plates and forks without asking. When my last friend came, on one noticed and give us a menu, I went to the server and ask for menu and plate and fork, and this time he forgot the plates again,I had to ask again when our food was served I’m a server as well, how many customers one table have is the basic, he just ignored the four glasses of water.... Fine, at least he was polite, when we check, I said to myself, meh ten percent tip will do, but I regretted, I decided to go higher, so I said can you reset the machine, there’s something wrong, let’s do it again. Ok he just smashed the machine on the table, all my friends heard.. so speechless. Five stars for food, the waffle burger is amazing, best in town! one star for service, service seems not bad, he checked if everything is ok constantly, since it’s my last time to dine in, I just said everything is fine, however, the details tell everything, maybe because we are not...
