Iâve been dining at this incredible fish and chips restaurant in Stratford, Ontario, since long before 2017, and my admiration for them has only grownâespecially after being diagnosed with celiac disease and having to eat strictly gluten-free. Sean and Virginia, the amazing owners, have truly built something special. Their dedication to providing a safe and delicious gluten-free dining experience has earned them a stellar reputation, and they stand out as a shining example in the gluten-free restaurant world.
What sets them apart is their certification as a gluten-free establishment, ensuring itâs completely safe for celiacs. But even beyond that, their food is outstanding! From the perfectly battered fish and chips to onion rings, fish cakes, and even battered mushrooms, every dish Iâve tried has been exceptional. Theyâve mastered the art of creating gluten-free meals that taste just as goodâif not betterâthan their traditional counterparts. Their commitment to making gluten-free diners feel ânormalâ is heartwarming; we get our own menus that look just like regular ones, which is such a thoughtful touch.
The atmosphere is always welcoming, the prices are fair, and theyâre constantly innovating. Theyâve added a lovely patio, a food boat (food truck) for events, and even a freezer section stocked with their own gluten-free products and those of other local businesses. Itâs incredible to see their growth and how they continue to support both the community and the gluten-free world.
Sean, Virginia, and their hardworking staff make it all seem effortless, though itâs clear how much passion and dedication they pour into their business. Restauranting is no easy feat, but theyâve truly made a difference for people like me who often feel left out of the dining experience. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! Highly recommend this gem to anyone, gluten-free or notâitâs...
Read moreUnfortunately this place title is seafood restaurant but they have chicken that is actually fried in the same oil as the fish. As a pescatarian person, this is a disappointment for me especially from a place they describe themselves as sea food restaurant. I wish they consider this and I would love to come and visit. To the owner, thanks for replying back. If someone from my household is pescatarian it does not mean all of us are the same. Although I gave one star, I wrote clearly the reason behind it and did not mention anything about your food, and did not make lies. I intended not to give the one star to any specific category like food, service, or atmosphere. I clearly said I would love to visit if that cross-contamination matter is considered to be fixed. However, you were noting that we asked for frying chicken in a separate pan, which we did not ask for. the person from my household clearly mentioned that he is pescatarian and if it is possible to fry the "fish" on a separate pan, and the answer was no. We did not even bring up the question about the onion ring as you claimed. Also, you were noting that I give 1 start for restaurants that are not "Shawarma", which is a gain a false claim as all other 1 star ratings I have are not for food related businesses....
Read moreDate of visit - Dec 30, 2023 We have been wanting to visit Annies for a while - but usually we are in Stratford to see a show and are often rushed to get to the theatre, and this restaurant is often very busy. As it is very busy, it made it clear to us that we needed to check out this place one day.
So when we finally got a chance to go without being rushed, we jumped at the chance to check it out. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with âBritishâ fish and chip and seafood/fisherman decor. The service is amazing - our waitress was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. They offer a variety of fish and chip options, including halibut, cod, haddock, and others. They also offer a variety of other optionsâeven non-fish options. I ordered the Halibut and chips - which was a nice big piece of fish on a bed of fresh-cut fries. Served with coleslaw. â¨It was fresh, not fishy-tasting, lightly battered, and not greasy. We also had the shrimp platter - with soup, onion rings, and roasted seasonal veg. The soup was delightful, and the shrimp were lovely and well cooked.
This is not going to be your cheap fish & chips - but the quality is worth the...
