Absolutely loved it! Firstly I thought it was just another coffee shop with great products maybe. But the moment I entered in, I was certain that it's not just another coffee shop round the corner. I have always been repelled by the commerical coffee chains. Not my thing! Yes, I've spent a lot of time in tim hortons, starbucks, coffee culture... But many a times because I had too, and not by choice, and mostly because lack of decent options. Stratford has incessant things to offer and this perky little cafe is one of them for sure. Hospitality is really personalized. My first question was the cliche, what would you recommend. Now usually if I ask this question, I get feature dumped. But what followed next was a question from the good lady who served me, what would I prefer? Would I like just plain coffee or some milky drink. Then upon my confirmation she suggested latte. Basics are here! Suit the customers needs! They have set up an awesome system, where you actually can purchase beans and stuff right by the entrance. Many places have the merchandising at the very end, and not at all close to the entrance. What if a customer just wants to buy beans, why does he have to go all the way to the end! Staff is extremely pleasant and welcoming. I caught a glance of their lovely patio back doors too. Topnotch! All that being said, I bought vanilla latte and a matcha latte. Both were scrumptious in their own unique differences! Loved...
Read moreAmazing croissants but the most uncomfortable service, ever. I drove to Revel from Cambridge to finally try the croissants my boyfriend has been going on about. We went together and he is so disappointed as well.
Once walking in we were automatically told to put a mask on (all mandates have been lifted for weeks- we were okay with this though, it's what follows).
Then, I walked in and looked at the pastries to have a woman tell me that it's not my turn and that there is someone ahead of me (I was aware of this as I saw him ordering and I was only looking at pastries as I've never been). Then while looking at the drink menu I had a man point to the woman and tell me I have to go there to order. Again, I didn't try to order or talk to anyone, I was only looking at what they had.
Finally, I ordered and the woman wanted to charge me for two full teas for wanting two tea bags (most places charge for an extra tea bag, not for another full tea). I said I would just take the one and then the woman switched her attitude and tried to be extra nice to me which was really weird and felt fake.
They asked if we wanted to stay we had to show our vaccination status (again everything lifted- we are both vaccinated to). When it came to pay I wasn't able to pay with cash and they asked what I wanted to tip them which again was uncomfortable.
All around, great croissants but such...
Read morePosting for acquaintance as she is not on Google Reviews: This is my first time posting here and as a small business owner I hate to drag down any other small businesses but what I witnessed yesterday was beyond horrible. Revel Cafe in Stratford has a walk up window OUTSIDE and they flat out refused an elderly man who wasn't wearing a mask OUTSIDE and then they made him put one on and then REFUSED his cash!!! I was working at the time and couldn't intervene, and truthfully I don't want to force a place to serve me as I'd rather them not see any of my money, but this was so tyrannical I felt I had to share. Avoid this place, leave a review or offer them some education on rights of citizens. Revel Cafe should be ashamed of themselves.
Funny how right we were about masks and a medical intervention that didn't do a thing to protect us. To all businesses who followed the guidelines , you should be apologising for the way you treated people . I hope that in the future you will see both sides of the coin before believing everything you...
