I haven't been to Stratford for over a decade but going on the advice of an acquaintance who spends a full week there every year seeing plays and eating at restaurants, I decided to try his recommendation for lunch at Sirkel. I wasn't disappointed in the offerings and only wished I had more time and a larger appetite to try at least two of the mains. I had a roast beef sandwich on a wonderful bread but I was eyeing all the tasty looking salads on other tables, too. I don't think I saw anything on any table I wouldn't have ordered for myself. The service was friendly and blazing fast even during a busy lunch hour on a holiday weekend Saturday. I gave it five stars and it's worth every one. Opening hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. so before the theatre or first thing in the morning to sample what must be the freshest food I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat little sandwich shop with home cooked treats. Fast, friendly service and nice atmosphere! We tried the 1/2 sandwich with chicken breast, arugula, goat cheese & red pepper jelly along with a bowl of creamy cauliflower soup. The sandwich was an explosion of delicious flavor. Nothing was skimped on - real chicken breast (not pressed meat) piled high with crisp peppery arugula, thick tangy goat cheese and complimented with the spicy sweet jelly on homemade bread! The soup of the day screamed homemade - chunky but smooth, creamy but not pasty, slightly earthy and cheesy. Delicious. The portion size was perfect for me as I was not quite able to finish the soup or sandwich even though I had every intention of trying one of their amazing desserts - the date squares were huge. I guess I have to go back! Thank you to all of the fantastic team for making this a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for a coffee and dessert today and my brownie was so dry and hard, I couldnāt cut it with the side of my fork. I had to stab it with the prongs to break off pieces. I had about 3 bites and left it. When the waiter asked if I wanted to pack it up, I told him it was too dry to eat. All he said was āweird, it was made todayā, took it away and threw it in the garbage. My friend that I was with is a very good customer. She had recently purchased 60 date squares and today put in an order for 120 date squares. She felt so bad for suggesting we go there for dessert. I will be trying to find a new place for her to buy her date squares and I will certainly not be giving them any more of my service. They will not be a restaurant that I recommend to any friends or family. Truly disappointed in what I was told was a nice place with...
