Original Joe's — Restaurant in Strathmore

I went to the Strathmore location during the September long weekend with my daughters as a treat. In the past, I have had excellent servers and service at this location. This past visit, it was not very busy, but the server was extremely inattentive. She did not offer refills on our drinks and my 8 year old had to go to the bar to get ketchup as our server was nowhere to be found.

I ordered the soup, but asked for a take out container for my uneaten portion. The server brought a container that appeared to be dirty, and previously used with water stains on it. She could see me examining it and she indicated that they did not have take out containers for soup and the cooks had used it, but it had been cleaned. I was disgusted by this. I indicated that I had ordered the same soup in the past as a takeout meal and had an adequate container that was different from what I had just received.

A few minutes later she came back and said that she had taken the container out of a box of new containers and it was dusty and she had wiped it down. I doubt that this was the case with the water stains and the appearance of being previously used. Even my older daughter commented on the varying stories for the container.. it is still disgusting that it was tampered with.

I don’t think that I will be back anytime soon to this location. The mediocre service and feeling that the take out container was previously used has left me not...

When i walked in i was asked if was here for delivery or pick up. From that i asked if i could eat here, and they told me to sit anywhere. I waited a bit then got a menu and some water. Not long after I got my order taken. I noticed my egg was missing but it wasnt on my bill so i didnt care that much. But i finished the whole meal and waited at least 10-15mins before server checked on me. I never got more water than the intial glass of water. And when i asked for the bill he brought it, and then dissapeared for a while and i just sat there on my phone a while. i looked up a few times and saw him talking at the bar. Eventually walked by and asked if i needed the machine. Waited a bit longer and got the machine. Next bit doesn't have to do with the wait staff. Im gluten intolerant and why do things that are marked gf not really gf? The fries are marked gf but when i ordered them, the waiter warned me they share a frier with everything else, thats not gluten free! Why is it marked gluten free!? Finally the food was...

This place has gone so downhill so we started to document the issues with pictures... We've gone in and sat for 15 minutes before being even noticed on multiple occasions. Then we went a couple weeks ago and at least half the tables sat with dirty glasses and dishes long after customers had gone. The bar was also covered in dirty glasses, the place looked like a total dive. There was maybe 5 tables of people there in total and yet service was incredibly slow because the girls were too busy gabbing than doing their jobs. All we came for that night was desserts, my ice cream showed up half melted. The waitress took it off the bill which was nice but it wasn't a busy night and there was no excuse for it to happen in the first place. Now last night we ordered out and the order of home cut fries we recieved was revolting, I'm not even sure how this got by as acceptable, they look like they were cooked in used motor oil. We love OJ's menu options but we're going there...
