I asked the woman why I had to pay extra to put my food in a bag for a meal that already cost way too much in the first place. She did not have an answer for why they charged extra for the bag. I thought that was Strange. So I asked her if I don’t get the bag that means multiple people are going to be handling my food for a greater chance of cross Contamination of my food since there will be more people handling my food that are touching, dirty POS machines and filthy bill money. She then said she washes her hands and then I said you’re telling me you wash your hands before and after every transaction you have before you handle someone’s food that ops to not get a bag?. She seemed stunned at my question and did not have a response. In short this is corporate greed camouflaged as being more “friendly” to the environment. A Small paper bag made of compostable recycle paper that costs next to nothing is now making a dollar every 4 bags it sells take that into consideration of how many hundreds of customers they have in a day then a year your looking at greed plain and simple and by paying a premium for this paper bag if you don’t get it there are no extra policies in place to ensure your food is handled correctly.I think the lack of knowledge of the employee who could not tell me why I had to pay more money to make sure my food was safely handled was unprofessional and I will not be going to that A&W ever again. Read moreI love the Beyond Meat burger. So much that I made my carnivorous boyfriend try one the other day. He actually enjoyed it, I was stoked! He enjoyed it so much he asked me to bring one home for supper tonight. Had a lovely young lady serve me at the drive thru, the wait time was very quick (exceptional actually), and the service was pleasant and polite. Got home to unfortunately discover a beef patty in his, but the correct beyond patty in mine. I’m not one to complain as it’s always awkward, but since he looked so very disappointed I did call to politely report the mistake. The lady who answered asked me to hold (speaking to a manager in the background), then came back asking for my name and number as she wanted to investigate with the kitchen staff. I obliged. She called back promptly, as promised, but instead of apologizing or offering to make it right in any way she chose to argue that the kitchen HAD, in fact, given me the correct order. I told her I understood that her staff thought they were sure, and that I was sorry to inform her they were mistaken. She simply repeated that there was no way they could have made a mistake as the patties are kept in separate trays. The reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is NOT because this manager believes her staff to be perfect super-humans incapable of making a simple mistake. First off I shattered my wrist and have a metal plate in it. It's a chronic problem that causes me agony on a daily basis.
Tonight I came through for a poutine and a shake at approx 1:00AM. I went to pay with my card and the lady working wanted me to hold the debit terminal while I punched in my pin. The terminal they have is on the end of this huge stick and the leverage it puts on my wrist is just too painful for me to grip and hold to the terminal.
WELL SHE DIDN'T LIKE THAT. She started breathing heavier as to let me know she was visibly upset. Then when she tried to grab the terminal back before the pin had validated, which ended up jacking up my wrist anyways.
She then slams the machine down once it's inside the window, I guess again to "show me" how inappropriate it had been to not hold the terminal. Then when she comes back to give me my poutine she hands it to me and says "this is heavy too."
Unbelievable. I'm a small business owner as well and I would be horrified if my staff were treating my patrons this way. I'd really like the owner to reach out so we could have a discussion about this. I tried to reach out on the official A&W website, but it wasn't working properly. I wish I could...
