Donair Dude — Restaurant in Surrey

This past Thursday we were in Cloverdale, and decided to try the Donair Dude location there (first time visiting any of their locations), since it was on our way. We ordered three platters: lamb, chicken and kofte (meatballs). All platters come with rice, baked potatoes, Greek salad, two dolmades, and of course your choice of protein (including falafel as the vegeterian option).

Portions were very generous; we all had leftovers that we enjoyed for dinner. Service was super friendly and would have been fast, too, except the koftes took a few extra minutes, but I'd been told when I ordered, so I could make an informed decision. I asked if it would be possible to try one of the sauces (Halifax), and received a generous sample. It was too sweet for me, but again, I was happy that I was able to make an informed decision.

We noted that there's a $9.99 special on the large beef donair Mondays and Tuesdays, and since we had to go back to Cloverdale anyways, we took the opportunity to stop in again yesterday. Like our first visit, portions were generous, service was friendly and fast. One of the employees (sorry, I'm awful at reading name tags, let alone remembering names!) remembered me from our previous visit, and asked if we'd enjoyed our rice platters.

We might have to find more reasons to go to...

Been here 5 + times love the platters. They are so flexible to changing things on thr platters and have vegan options and gluten free.

I went to the cloverdale location again May 24th 24. I ordered the Small rice and chicken plate for 5 guests at my home for pickup online order/not the platter which is much bigger -as we usually order. It was much smaller than I expected. I did not think it would be this small. I've been to other places that have rice platters such as donair affair and a couple other donair style places. They offer similar options slightly different obvs. But the major bonus u get from these other places is they have much more food in the box to offer for the same exact type of plate. Basically it seemed really stingy and yes I know the name of the dish is "small plate" but I didn't realize its for someone who eats very little like many women or child style plate, but its not a good size for men not to be sexist. lol so I should have known this by the name of the item. I've been to the Donair Dude in Surrey many times and was excited with this location opening in Cloverdale. We ordered both a chicken and beef wrap but unfortunately neither lived up the expectations I had become familiar with from Donair Dude. First, about 50% of the chicken was long stringy pieces of fat, which was quite gross. I had to pick it all out of my wrap. The chicken that wasn't pure fat was bland and quite tasteless in comparison to what I've become used to expecting. Sadly, the beef didn't live up to my expectations either. I was expecting shaved beef as is usual in Donair places. Instead the beef was more like grilled beef, also pretty tasteless with no hint of spices used. Not Donair style beef. Again a big letdown in comparison to the beef at the Surrey Donair Dude location which is my usual order. The service was acceptable but unfortunately I don't think I will return to this location after the quality and flavour of the meat is nowhere nearly as good as other Donair Dude locations...
