TERRIBLE SERVICE, very rude staff. I have come here many times and they used to be good quality but are getting worse and worse. Most recently I came here on Nov 28/2022. I ordered a chicken with rice, I added veggies and sauce everything as normal. The lady asked me if I wanted all three sauces and I told her no hat sauce please. Then after getting my toppings, I asked if I can get more sauce on top. She proceeded to dump hot sauce all over the bowl, I asked her if its possible to just scrape off the hot sauce. She proceeds to tell me no, it's my own fault because she asked me if I wanted all three sauces (I told her no hot sauce). She told me the hot sauce is mild anyway so it does not matter, I told her I don't want hot sauce which is why I told her no hot sauce in the beginning. She said no there is nothing I can do and continued to tell me that its my own fault and clearly she did not care. I left and looked at the bowl, the hot sauce was covering everything. I went back inside and she was very rude, she was staring at me while I walked back inside and was giving a lot of attitude as if I was the one who put hot sauce all over the bowl and then blamed her. I do not understand what the issue was, she did not apologize but with an attitude she remade the bowl. The chicken was ok, better than the dry lamb I had last time. The more times I visit Donair Affair the more reasons I have to dislike it. The worker was extremely rude for absolutely no reason and blamed me for her mistake, refused to own up to the mistake and told me that it taste fine, even though it is food that I am paying for so I would like it to be made to a way I...
Read moreI've been going to this particular Donair Affair a lot since May 2015. I've also been to 2-3 others in Greater Vancouver. It's one of my go to spots for a quick and wonderfully delicious meal. The food is exceptional, and the portions are generous. 99% of the time, the service is good, and occasionally awesome, depending on which employee is serving.
Today was different. I ordered the chicken rice platter, and of course, the food was great, as always. The woman who served me is young and new, and skimped on the chicken and rice portions, but I didn't complain because that's not how I am. She appeared to be grossly inconvenienced by my presence there. Anyways, I took my meal and sat down near the back to eat, out of view.
While I was eating, 2 women in their 50s walked in to order whatever it was they wanted to order. Next thing I know, the new employee is starting a heated argument "YOU said YOU wanted this, and YOU said that, etc" The customers were baffled. They rebutted, calmly "No, I said this." It went back and forth a few times and escalated quite quickly. Then I heard another voice from behind the counter saying "YOU don't talk to my sister that way." The 2 customers walked out, frustrated... understandably. On her way out, one of the customers said "why are you standing there waving that knife at me?" 😳
I wanted to email the company to complain but I couldn't find an email address, so this was my next best option.
I'll continue to eat at this establishment because the food is THAT good. I'm absolutely appalled at the way those employees treated those customers. Disgusting!
The customer is...
Read moreDeciding to give this chain a second chance may perhaps be the less smarter decision made after the previous review made over two years ago. The restaurant that I grew up loving to go to with my friends has turned into a shadow of its better past.
Rather than going for a wrap, I opted for the rice platter, which came with the main rice and meat dish doused in sauces, a side salad, some hummus and half a pita to mop up the meal. What I had received however came to disappoint me.
The rice was a lump of oily basmati rice grains with little to no flavour for itself. Opting for the chicken came to be wise, as it still remained moist and tender. Previously, the option to pick half-and-half of two different meats was free, but now it comes at an additional cost ($2.50)! The sauces were as expected, and as such I requested extra hot sauce to perhaps save the dish from being inedible.
The side salad was disappointing. A small scoop of randomly sized tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions were covered with a mystery dressing and a sad sprinkle of cheese. The hummus and pita did not let down however, and perhaps completed the meal.
The staff remained as unhelpful as ever, showing customers in addition to myself a lack of care to the food and service. The tipping option at the payment was the cherry on this disastrous cake, and should be reserved for when they can start making an effort to improve.
Donair Affair had been one of my childhood favourites but now has turned into a seemingly different, worse version of what it was once. I urge it to review the criticisms and suggestions to perhaps save itself from this...
