I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I believe it’s our responsibility to share our experiences—both good and bad—so others are aware, and hopefully, the owners can improve their food and service.
On February 20, I visited this restaurant with a friend. I used to be a regular customer, but my last two visits, which were three years ago, were awful—both in terms of food and service. That’s why I stopped going. I even mentioned this to the waitress when I returned, hoping things had improved.
We decided to give them another chance and ordered Seekh Kebab with four naans. The naan was good, but the kebab was terrible. The meat didn’t taste fresh—it actually seemed spoiled. I couldn’t eat it, so I pushed my portion onto my friend, even though the portion was small to begin with. He finished all the kebabs, while I just ate the naan with the curry that came with it.
The waitress was kind and offered me a free cake, which I appreciated. However, when I opened it in front of her, it smelled awful. Being a nice person, I didn’t want to be rude, so I accepted it and took it home. But when I got home and looked at it again, the cake had mold on it.
To make matters worse, my friend ended up with food poisoning. Shortly after we left the restaurant, he started vomiting and had diarrhea, which lasted all night. It’s extremely disappointing to experience something like this, especially after giving the restaurant another chance.
This was my last visit to this place. The owner really needs to pay more attention to food quality and hygiene. No one should have to go through what we did.

I recently visited Kesari Indian Sweets and Eats in Surrey and ordered their thali, a mango lassi, and chole bhature. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
Thali ($21) – 1/5
This was one of the worst thalis I’ve ever had. The only good items were the dal makhani (4/5) and the mixed vegetable sabzi (4/5)—both had decent flavor. Everything else was terrible: • Butter Chicken: 0/5 – Way too sweet, completely ruined the taste. • Chole: 0/5 – Tasted burnt and borderline inedible. Made me feel nauseous. • Gajar ka Halwa: 0/5 – This wasn’t a dessert. It was like chewing rubber. • Raita: 0/5 – Completely forgettable and added no value to the thali.
For a $21 thali, this was ridiculously overpriced. Given the quality, it shouldn’t be more than $14–$15 at best.
Mango Lassi – 2.5/5
Mediocre at best. Tasted artificial, almost like a powdered mix rather than real mango.
Chole Bhature – 2/5
The bhature were okay, but since the chole were the same burnt chole served in the thali, it dragged the whole dish down. Nothing special at all.
Ambience – 2.5/5
Just average. Nothing impressive or particularly inviting.
Final Verdict
If you’re considering visiting Kesari Indian Sweets and Eats, I’d highly recommend skipping the thali and chole bhature. The only saving grace was the dal makhani and mixed veg sabzi, but that’s not enough to justify the price. Overall, I’d rate this place 1/5 and won’t...

I've been to Kesari a few times now, and if there's one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: avoid this place unless you enjoy being ripped off and served stale food.
To put it bluntly, this restaurant is a thief in disguise. Their pricing strategy is intentionally misleading. Sweets are supposedly sold by the pound, but if you buy them per piece, you’ll be charged way more than they’re worth. No transparency, no honesty.
For example: Motichoor Laddoo – 2 pieces for $3 Modak – 2 pieces for $3 Now do the math. Laddoos are priced at $18/lb and Modaks at $15/lb, yet per piece pricing is jacked up with zero explanation. It’s nothing short of a scam.
But it doesn’t end there. Freshness? Forget about it. I’ve been burned four times, sweets were clearly old, stale, and tasted awful. When I asked the staff, I got vague, dismissive responses. If you're still willing to risk it, always ask if what you’re buying is fresh, though don't expect a straight answer.
Bottom line: I try to avoid this place unless I have absolutely no other option. There are far better Indian spots around that don’t treat customers like walking wallets. Kesari, clean up your act, this level of disrespect to both food and customers is...
