King Tut's Donair — Restaurant in Surrey

Hi friends, Its been long since my last review, now that I am free from my daily routine of going to work early morning, working like crazy and coming back all tired sweaty and dirty, I thought it would be good if I did some reviews of restaurants and food outlets i have tried in the past little while. Today I just wanted to have a bite of the shawarma from the closest donair place to my home. I won't say I regret it cause i never could try it, but surely wanted to review my experience of not eating. I went to this place around noonish and the place was kind of deserted. There was this guy sitting outside of the donair prep area, my first instinct was could be a customer waiting for his order. It took him 40 to 50 seconds to jump in (if you don't know how long is 40 to 50 seconds just stair at your watch its like infinity!!!). "Are you here for the donair?" yeah sure. that was his question and my response. I won't blame him cause he also runs this convenience store. "Which one do you want?" came the second question. Looking at most of the reviews and couple of pictures I kind of realized that the menu should be somewhere on the wall. I turned around and there it was and searched thru the listing and went in for the Labanese. Here is the most weird part "for Lebanese, i do not have any Hummus" what? did I hear that correctly no Hummus in a donair place. i said "Excuse me ........ no Hummus". He said "yes we are out" i said "in that case i would skip this order" I said "Thank you" and walked out. But really a donair or a shawarma place with no Hummus - ridiculous. I have also gone to shawarma places around lower mainland where they do not serve tabouli, olives, pickled (turnips, cucumber, jalapeño) etc. Being brought up, lived and worked in the middle east I surely know these are an integral part of middle eastern fast food (meditterenian, lebanese, middle eastern, persian) and you get to choose them, not that they would surely add it to your wrap, but hummus that was not right. Anyways that was that but would like to go back again some time soon just to have a taste of their shawarma but not without hummus, hoping that the star rating that time would increase...

My family and I recently relocated to Cloverdale and it has turned out to be a wonderful move. I love everything about this area of the city. It is like living in a small town in the middle of the city. One of the things I have really enjoyed is discovering all of these little businesses that are one of a kind. King Tut Donair is one of these places. Every time I go there I leave feeling good. Especially if I run into the owner or this amazing girl, Jaz. Not only are their prices cheaper than the surrounding stores they have the coolest merchandise. (Friday the 13th hockey mask mints lol ;)) Plus, they just brought back their amazing $5 donairs. Trust me, you don't need to go...

I was just driving along hwy 10 and searched, "Donair" on my map. These guys came up and I stopped for supper. First impression was not great. The layout was a little awkward, dark and seemed a little dirty. The guy was friendly and it was quick (no one else was there). Also the price was good, just over $5.00. I ordered the beef donair (they had no chicken left), and it was good, just not great like the other reviews said. I also found myself thinking about how dirty the store was while I was eating. My recommendation is to update the place and clean! just average experience. 2.5 out of 5. This satisfied my twice a year...
