Shannon Donair — Restaurant in Surrey

My first impression as a first time customer went like this: Walked through the door to a friendly smile, a kind greeting and the most WONDERFUL smells of the owners hand made recipes, from there I had the most pleasant Customer Service interaction with the owner. He made myself and my wife the 2 yummiest Lamb donairs I have EVER had(which is impressive as donair is my favorite meal). Before we left, I left the owner a good tip as his customer service was 12/10. When we got home and ate his food, it felt almost magical. The flavors were wonderful and perfectly balanced, The donair was evenly filled with an appropriate amount of meat to veggie ratio. The sauces reminded me of home, which is VERY far away. This is a GEM of a spot and if you haven't tried you ARE missing out!

I ordered a Mediterranean platter. I loved it . This place will taste different from the regular franchised Donair places like Donair dude etc. It is way more authentic. It is run by one person who totally does it all on his own. The food tastes different like Chinese food without MSG If you know what I mean. It is more authentic. There is a small table and chair outside on the sidewalk where I eat and park my bike and there are people who will stop by and chat as this place is close to a busy barber shop, a legion etc. It has the same vibe as Joe's cafe on commercial drive in the good old days. I would call it a very bicycle friendly spot where you can stop on your bike route. Very relaxed, not very fast...

I’m honestly so confused by the mixture of 5 star reviews and 1 star reviews. I’ve tried MANY of the domain shops in the lower mainland and personally I can say this restaurant is either the worst or 2nd worst I’ve tried. This is such a shame because i love donairs & I live a 1 min walk from here and walk by it often. I would be coming here often if i thought it was decent. I’ve tried both their rice & meat platters as well as the donairs and was disappointed with the quality & quantity of the food as well as the sauces and flavours.
