Streats Cloverdale Kitchen — Restaurant in Surrey

First time. New restaurant. Gave it a try. Very solid. Just a few observations....

It's not a restaurant. You order your food and sit down. They bring it to you. So it's not quite a family or date night atmosphere. We were only there 15-20 mins or so.

the $6 promo smash burger was nowhere close to the picture/description. There was only 1 patty with cheese contrary to it showing 2. It was really good although I wasn't a fan of the American cheese they use (in between Kraft cheese slices and real cheddar). Just not as described. Maybe that's why it's $4 off??

the fish and shrimp tacos were delicious. The only comment from my wife is she wished there was a grilled option and not deep fried.

the straight cut fries were crispy and the seasoning was just enough spice. We only got the basic ones - nothing fancy. But we probably wouldn't get them again.

get rid of the ghetto no name brand ketchup. I get that it's probably cheaper, but as a ketchup lover.....it's terrible!

there was no beer there yet even though their website states they've got "local craft beer". Hopefully sooner than later. We would have each had one last night.

there was a bit of a language barrier with the young brown girl working the till. It took a few times repeating myself to get things right.

im sorry but DO NOT GO HERE!!! ive ordered from them on ubereats a couple months ago and was thoroughly disappointed with what i recieved. I ordered a chicken tater tot poutine thing and it did not look ANYTHING like the pictures on ubereats or their website and the portions were TINY!! for the price i paid, it was not worth it. didnt even taste good.

ANYWAYS that aside, a couple weeks ago I decides to try Streats again. I walked in and the atmosphere and employee working there were amazing and great. She was really kind. I ordered a simple smashburger, super excited to eat it up after a long day at work. I took it into my car and took a bite... IT WAS DISGUSTING!!!! it was like the patty was drenched in salt, my tongue literally stiffened up and my mouth got extremely dry, i needed to take multiple swallows of water after each bite. Seriously was the worst thing ive ever tasted and I paid a bunch of money for it. I've learned my lesson, I tried to give them a chance, but unfortunately after these two incidents I will never ever be eating at...

Bit of a problem with the 1st time discount from the website. Lady came with a note pad and asked "per company policy" for name, address, phone number to track 1st time visit. Discount gets sent to your email address. Tracked that way like everyone else. On to the food. Cook going through the motions, toppings inconsistent between 2 burgers. Burgers were ok, but not worth the $. Nothing special. Perogie Poutine was not good at all. Hardly any curds, and very little gravy. Gravy itself a bit of sour aftertaste. Entire length of the serving counter looked like it hadn't been cleaned for at least that day. Sticky and visibly dirty. Kitchen looked ok. Should have gone to Vera's next door.
