Usually my experience here is that it’s an enjoyable restaurant with amazing food, however, about a month ago I came here with my coworker and my client.
First we were sat at a table in the corner next to a table of like 10 kids, the restaurant was visibly busy but we could have waited a little bit for a proper table where we weren’t sitting right next to curdling screams from young children.
We ordered right away and were still waiting for an hour for our food. I also noticed a man came in for pick up and he was waiting 30min + for the order even though I overheard him say he called for pick up.
When we received the food and started eating, my client was shocked to have noticed there was a long brown hair in her gyro after she had taken a bite from it. We brought this to the attention of the server who said she was sorry and asked us to point where we seen the hair. We showed her and she took it away and brought a new one.
We of course didn’t expect for my meal and my coworkers meal to be free or discounted but the only way they could have redeemed my client was by giving her a new gyro at the same cost it was initially. The only thing she said she could do was just apologize for the situation.
I feel that the meal being replaced was the least that could have taken place. When you go to a restaurant you go for the experience and the food. We were already sitting at a table listening to screaming for an hour waiting for roasted cauliflower, a chicken wrap, and a beef gyro, just to see that the food had someone’s hair in it.
Update: I am not sure how to respond to the response. But I said “ We of course didn’t expect for my meal and my coworkers meal to be free or discounted but the only way they could have redeemed my client was by giving her a new gyro at the same cost it was initially. The only thing she said she could do was just apologize for the situation.”
We did NOT expect.
Additionally, yes we didn’t have a reservation but we could have waited and at in an area that wasn’t full of kids. I did NOT say that I expected there to be no children, I mean. Most groups of people would not want to be placed right there.
I also did NOT say that there was a problem in which the food was received just that it took a long time. You assumed that I’m basing it on the other table but the table of children already had their food and was well into their meals when we arrived.
As a small company that “values” its customers you would think you would review the complaint with understanding - or at the very least read it properly without making assumptions - that I wanted to be compensated fully ( I didn’t say that and I clearly wrote I had no expectations of that), the group of people who’s food came before ours ( they already had their food), and that I expected a child free environment.
At the very least my client who ordered one gyro with a soda should have had her meal discounted or a free dessert since your employees did in fact leave a long piece of hair in her food that was in her mouth while taking a bite. Which is disgusting!
It’s disappointing that instead of simply acknowledging the experience and taking some accountability, your response felt more like an attempt to deflect and twist my words. I wasn’t being unreasonable—I was just being honest about what happened.
I didn’t misunderstand anything. I experienced it. You should be ashamed of yourself for how you are handling your customers experience. I got my client to love your restaurant and now I will have to break the news to her that we’re never...
Read moreWas in the city for some work related training and met up with a friend to have dinner. Came here on a whim, because the photos on google spoke of a charming Grandma and Grandpa's Greek Taverna sort of atmosphere. Well, not only was I right, but it was some of the most fantastic and authentic Greek food I've had in my life. When we sat down, my friend and I were both a bit concerned due to the lack of other diners in house. Surely that's usually a bad sign during peak dinner hours, we thought. Well, we were most certainly proven wrong. The doors were revolving with skip the dishes orders- clearly the locals knew what was what! Service was provided by the most charming gentleman, he was kind, funny and engaged with the two of us. The restaurant was clean and homey, and the FOOD.
Truly, I cannot rave about the food enough. I myself had the calamari dinner. It was fresh and crispy, the squid inside soft, buttery and to die for. My friend had the lamb, and he said it was perfectly cooked; tender and juicy. The pita was puffy, soft and melt in your mouth. Even the lemon rice was bright and flavourful, perfectly cooked and fluffy and delightfully tangy. And the baklava- oh, the baklava. If you come for no other reason, come for the baklava. The most perfect balance of cloves and spices, delicate layers of philo pastry and decadent nut filling. Utterly divine.
This restaurant is truly an unsung gem; a place that clearly has had a lot of love put into it from the decor to the food. And how it really, really shows in the food. It was a delightful experience from start to finish, not just for the food but from the host as well. I cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant, and should you ever wish to peruse some true Greek fare while in the Surrey area, do yourself a favour and choose the...
Read moreOur family experience at this restaurant ended with great disappointment. The owner was very pleasant and greeted us with friendliness. We often share our food so we have room to try different items on the menu from appetizer, entrees to dessert among 2 adults and 2 children. We were told that there will be a cover charge of $5/person X 2 ($10) for ordering 2 entrees even tough we also ordered a couple of appetizers. I couldn't believe what I was hearing but accepted it. The restaurant was empty with only a table of 2 besides ours on a weekday. The restaurant has no entertainment nor was it located in a upscale or waterfront area. We've been to many restaurants (including Greek) and have never been charged a cover charge. In fact, some places even portioned our food separately so we can all enjoy our meals on individual plates.
The service was nice. The owner was constantly making sure our plates were cleared and water topped.
The owner also gave us extra pita breads (one of the appetizers we ordered) and a meatball sample. Unfortunately, offering us the extras gave us no room for dessert. That is the very reason why we share so we could try different items on the menu.
Food was way too salty and rice was hard. Calamari was excellent with nice light batter.
Quality and service are what we look for, not quantity. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant and the hope of any...
