Diya Restaurant & Sweets — Restaurant in Surrey

I usually visit this restaurant once a week and order catering from here as well . I had a big catering for my son’s birthday party as well I always had great experience with Sneha, muskan, prabh and even the girl with specs at the front reception all the staff members are great and the food is very delicious. But now they have hired a new girl who is so unwelcoming, rude and always have a straight face which nobody wants while being served after a long tiring day at work. I came here a few days ago with my family and friends who came from Toronto and i urged them to go to Diya but this new girl which i understand is a new trainee but the owner should at least teach the basics of serving before hiring. I am sorry to say but she smells so bad and she was the only server there so we could not ask anyone else to serve. Secondly, i had to call her every single time when we needed anything despite her coming and asking whether we need anything or not. I felt so ashamed in-front of my friends when they told me this is the service you like where you call the waitress yourself every single damn time.

Worst experience ever since now.

The owner Bharat should hire someone after training the basics of serving and ask the servers to smell nice or at-least don’t smell bad cause it impacts the business in many ways.

I will never visit this restaurant anymore.

We visited Diya Restaurant for lunch 2 days ago. This is a pure vegetarian restaurant & notice states it is open 24 hrs. The food served is once again typical Punjabi style food -bland & insipid & we had request the staff to spice it up . We ordered Creamy Pasta, Veg Biryani , mixed Raita, Cheese Burger & Diya mixed Thali. Like virtually ALL Punjabi style restaurants in lower mainland, the dishes lacked the condiments & seemed incomplete. (Pasta did not come with any sauce, Biryani had no Raita accompanying it nor a papad, Cheese burger had no Chilli & Tomato Sauce & Diya Thali had neither Yoghurt nor Raita). It seems North Indian restaurants seem very reluctant to serve Raita with Dishes & futher add the neccessary condiments . This unfortunately leaves one feeling incomplete. We had order mixed Raita separately & this had only some cucumbers . No chopped green chillies, tomatoes or onions. And further cost $7.99/-(high). I noticed the South Indian Dosa's offered were offered only with Sambhar & NO Spicy Coconut & other Chutneys ! It should be mentioned that the most essential part of a South Indian Dosa are the Chutneys & NOT Sambhar & if this essential item is not served, it cannot be called a Dosa really . (Like ordering a Burger without a Patty). Overall taste of the food & quantity was acceptable. Prices seemed high for certain dishes. I wish I could give them minus rating. Highly unprofessional service and worst kitchen or order taking service. This restaurant I don't know how they are in existence with lots of blunders and awful taste. Earlier I thought okay sometimes it happens but....

First, order during dine in I clearly ordered Paneer puri with chole, and they gave me bhatura. Upon asking the service attended first she said she gave me bhatura and when I was frightened she changes her words and said no its puri only but because of paneer it looks like bhatura. (Meaning- if you put paneer stuffing it will change from wheat atta to Maida). You think customers are foolish or that dumb or have no knowledge about the food?? Also, chole were very salty and not at taste like chole/chana curry. During, dine-in I noticed that my side table customers also complained about the food and left half in their plate and went away!!

Second order, right now I ordered via uber, Paneer Tikka masala, tandoori roti and rice for my dinner after exhausted at work. After waiting long they did not sent me sabji and sent me only roti. Like Seriously?? When I called what I'm supposed to eat... they said you come and pick up as we can't arrange it. Like everytime with this restaurant....?? I'M NOT BEING THEIR CUSTOMER ANYMORE...
