My friend and I just had an incredibly disappointing experience at this cafe. We arrived just after 11am and used the kiosk to order. First issue was the lack of printed receipt, which we needed for business reasons. We figured we would ask for it after we were done, no big deal. Then we sat and waited for our order. And waited. And waited. After about 30 minutes, one of the two girls working called out one of the dishes we ordered. I went up, and the dish was there, but she explained to me she had noticed too late we had added an extra egg and that would be another minute. She said I could take the dish and she would run out the egg- I said no, we would rather wait for the whole order together. A few minutes later she called out one of our drinks. My friend went up and was told they didn’t have coconut milk to make her drink with, was almond or oat okay? She said no, so could she just be refunded the drink? The girl looked stressed and then said, well, they had coconut milk, but it was in a huge can that she didn’t want to open. After a bit of back and forth, she agreed to open the can and make the drink. Our full order (2 meals, 2 drinks) was finally ready at about 12:05- at least 45 minutes after we ordered it. Also, she explained that the coconut drink “looked weird” because of the coconut milk, and we both agreed. The drink did look weird and tasted even weirder. The coconut milk did not mix in the iced drink at all and was very unappetizing. All in all, the food was absolutely delicious and we both LOVED the menu, but were aghast and the lack of coordination, service, and communication. I can’t blame the poor girls working (well, up until one admitted she didn’t want to open a can of coconut milk) because it was clear there was a lack of training and structure in this place. Where is the management? Where is a boss? Has anyone trained these poor girls how to handle this incredible menu and what to do when things fall a bit behind? Sad. Absolutely loved the food but will never go back as it was too painful watching those girls struggle. We also never got that receipt, as it was clear there would be no point in asking for it, nobody there knew how to...

I recently visited West Village Café and, unfortunately, my experience was quite underwhelming. While the café itself has a nice ambiance and could be a decent spot for coffee, I wouldn’t recommend it for lunch or sandwiches.
I ordered the roast beef sandwich, which came on an overly toasted baguette. The bread was too crunchy, making it difficult to eat, and the amount of roast beef inside was surprisingly minimal—almost as if it had been forgotten. Alongside, I tried their soup, which turned out to be nothing more than boiled tomato broth. There were no vegetables, meat, or even beans—just plain, watered-down tomato flavor. A sprinkle of herbs or even some parmesan cheese could have significantly improved it. There was also no option or explanation given about the soup during the ordering process, and to be honest, I am not even positive what kind of soup I actually received.
Service was another major disappointment. The staff didn’t greet customers or even acknowledge them with a nod. When I placed my order, it took nearly 20 minutes to receive a very basic sandwich. Moreover, the staff didn’t bring the food to the table, and they didn’t even provide a spoon for the soup. It felt more like a self-serve catering operation rather than a café with attentive service.
Overall, West Village Café might work if you’re just stopping by for a coffee in a decent setting, but if you’re looking for a satisfying meal with good service, you might want to...
Read moreCame her for the first time to see if it was good. After having eaten and read the reviews on here, my experience was confirmed. The food was sub par, customer service was lower than one star. As someone who has worked in customer service for over 4 years, I have experience in the matter. My experience involved; not being acknowledged or greeted (we made eye contact when we walked in), ignored for 6 minutes while one of the patrons texted on her phone and then was greeted by a "be there in a sec". One of us had our order taken while the other had to wait while the girls decided to chat amongst themselves. We then sat down and waited for our sub-par food to arrive (Blenz is better food wise) in the wrong packaging. We had let them know we wanted three items to be taken to go and one for sit down. There were a party of two who had already been helped, we were the only other two people in the store. They charge 0.50 cents for hot sauce which is unheard of. They ask for a tip when you pay, and as someone who always gives 15% as standard or higher, my tip had to reflect the service in this situation which was below standard. Restaurant is cute style though. I ordered the bacon egg and cheddar wrap, pan au chocolate and the antioxidant. (For sensory information/notes, wrap is crunchy with squishy inside, pan au chocolate is top tier, the antioxidant has ALOT of seeds - in case there are kids/people who don't like seeds) - The eggs were apparently crunchy from assumed...
