Ato Sushi Bar + Kitchen — Restaurant in Surrey

I recently had an unpleasant experience at ATO SUSHIdue to the behavior of one of the staff members. After our meal, we reviewed our bill and chose not to add a tip, which we believe should be entirely at the discretion of the customer. However, our server made a rude remark, saying, 'You guys suck,' and then proceeded to add a tip of her own choosing without our consent.

This kind of unprofessional behavior is shocking and deeply disappointing. Tipping is meant to reflect a customer’s appreciation for good service, not something to be forced or demanded. This incident not only created an uncomfortable situation but also reflected poorly on the restaurant’s standards for customer service.

I urge the management at ATO to address this issue and ensure that their staff understands the importance of respecting customers' choices. Until improvements are made, I would not recommend this restaurant to others, as no one should feel pressured or insulted over their...

The food is great no doubt about it ! The problem is the service.. there is no rule that says I have to tip… and tips depend on the type of service that is provided. If you don’t bother to even fill up my water once or ask our table if we need anything and came twice (once during initial order taking and second time when deliverin food) you haven’t done much and I don’t care if I ate $1000 worth of food, I DONT HAVE TO TIP YOU AND YOU DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO RIDICULE ME FOR IT. Came here on an afternoon with my friend and when we paid the bill we did tip but the waitress was unhappy with the amount so she started arguing with us telling us “standard is 10% minimum” .. there is no minimum, and your service is terrible so instead of telling us to tip you maybe improve your standards or find another job !...

Ordered a take out party tray for the first time from Ato, and I will definitely be going back!

Firstly, I must mention, as I was waiting for my order to be ready, the hostess and/or waitress both apologized for the very short delay and offered me some tea or miso soup while I waited. Very friendly and warm hospitality. That small gesture left a great impression.

As for the food. The quality and effort that went into the preparation and presentation of the food was excellent. Even the take out looked so great once I got it home. Definitely earning the name "Ato", because it was beautiful! The fish was very flavourful and fresh, which is the most important aspect of sushi for many people.

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for high quality, fresh sushi in Surrey.
