Honestly if I could give this restaurant a negative one I would. This isn't my first bad experience here, but it was the most stand out one. We went here today due to family day and them being the only ones open. We totally understood that they were busy and seemed to be short staffed. We had ordered coffee and water, the waters which we never received. Fine, it's busy. After waiting almost 45 minutes our waitress shows up. She was the only thing that saved this experience. Takes our food orders and off she goes. We finally received our food after almost another 45 minutes. My partners ( who is a chef) had ordered a skillet. ( pictured). The eggs were completely dry, he had ordered 2 extra eggs which were supposed to come on the side, they said they were added into the skillet. Absolutely not. When he went to take a bite it was stone cold. So we sent it back. When the food came back to our table it very clearly had just been thrown in the microwave. There was even some new mysterious tomato pieces in his dish. The dish didn't have tomato before hand, and tomatoes where not included in the skillet. So im thinking they fell off the inside of the microwave as they were completely rotten and dehydrated. Our waitress ended up saving the day by having the manager remove the skillet from our bill. Not once did the manager come over to speak with us, or see how they could make our experience better. Our waitress was in training and clearly stressed out with no support. A poorly run establishment, we spent over 2 hours there, frozen and microwaved food. Do not waste your time on this...
Read moreWent in this morning with my boyfriend.. there were a few people waiting in line so we sat down, completely understanding that it was around 11 and going to be getting busy soon. A group of 4 came in and decided to butt Infront of us and were vey rude. They were seated before my boyfriend and I.. then we get seated followed by a nice couple and their baby. We ordered a coffee and a water, and sat there watching people order and get their food while no one had even come to take our orders. 45 mins later we both order the international breakfasts And our waitress was very lovely.. saved the whole experience. Then we sat and watched people come in after us, order, eat, and leave before we even got our food. Another 45 minutes go by and our food comes out. Right away I could see that my portion of eggs was significantly smaller than the other plate. The half waffle was dry and cold along with the French toast… the bacon and sausage were the best part of the meal even tho I don’t understand how you could mess up waffels and French toast but that’s besides the point. Just overall would have been better off getting hot cakes from McDonalds😭. If I could give this negative stars I would. Don’t waste your time here if you’re actually hungry bcuz you’ll wait so long for your food you won’t be hungry anymore by the time you get it....
Read moreNot many restaurants serving breakfast in Sydney, NS at this time. My wife and I tried Smitty's. We are local residents. We had identical meals with 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, hash browns and a cup of tea (no meat). The food was good. The tea was the worst I have ever had (weak as water and a terrible taste). The price was outrageous. Including tax it came to $30.45! Think about it; in total: 4 eggs ( we buy them for 2.69 a dozen, used to be 1.88 before Covid-19), 4 slices of bread, toasted (20-24 slices in a loaf for 3-4 dollars) about 1 average sized potato worth of hash browns per plate (about 30 in a 10 pound bag for 2-4 dollars). The tea was from a large steeped pot (many cups in a pot and it was so weak probably used the same tea bags for more than 1 pot). this means the food cost the restaurant approx. 67 cents for the eggs, 55-72 cents for the bread, 27 cents for the potatoes, and at most 4-6 cents for the tea. Total $1.55-$1.72 for the food and about $4.00 in taxes. So to summarize: $30.45 for $1.55-$1.72 of food, $3.97 in tax and the cost of cooking it and carrying it about 40 feet...
