Came in to have some Pho with my wife. The server was nice. The atmosphere in the restaurant is fine, pretty wallpapers. However, the food was the most disappointing part, and it was the worst pho we have ever tried. My wife ordered pho with sliced beef and beef balls, and I ordered the satay special pho. My wife's broth tasted just awful "pool water", as my wife described it. When I tasted it, it almost tasted soapy. Then the beef. Look at that photo. We came in shortly after opening, and this beef looks like it had a 5 week long shift work building pipeline and then came back to our plate. It was old, dry, and not tasteful. The beef balls also had a weird taste to them as if they were not fresh. When paying almost 16$ for a bowl of soup, you would expect better quality ingredients. Maybe this place is better for other dishes, but I would not recommend this place to...
Read moreTried to order online but had to call to clarify what the Shanghai noodle dish was. The female on the phone explained it and when asked, said it came with pork or shrimp. I said ‘oh no shrimp!’ I’ll take the pork. We also ordered a combo but it wasn’t clear online or over the phone what was in it. When we picked up the order it contained double the combo dishes. We rejected the doubled items which seemed to upset the girl at the desk. We got home and my noodle dish contained shrimp which I’m actually allergic to. I called right away about the mistake and was blamed for not saying I was allergic to shrimp!! I explained that I had order the pork so what did it matter. Front counter staff were rude about the mistake and I felt blamed. Has to make a second trip and then wait over 45 min for a 15 min dish. This is the second time we’ve had issues...
Read moreThis is another version of the now defunct Italian restaurant that closed to make way for Tandoori House. Zero ambiance and opening before the liquors licence comes through. It's called bamboo house yet it feels like "hospital waiting room" it's so sterile in there! How much does it cost to buy 500 plastic pieces of bamboo and some Asian decorations on Ali express? $200?
Yet another "do just enough to call it a restaurant" effort in terrace. Why can no one actually do it properly in this town?
A restaurant isn't just about food. It's about the experience. If this place signs up for Spyce they may survive. If not they'll last a couple of months before going under for doing "just enough". Shame, because we've been really wanting a Vietnamese restaurant here.
Put some effort into it and do...
