Houston Avenue Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Terrebonne

I normally don't give 5 star ratings easily. But this time all the stars for this resto aligned coherently.

The greeter, the sever, the kitchen runner were all very professional, respectful, pleasant and accommodating despite the inclement weather outside and party atmosphere inside (many groups celebrating something or another - Joie de vivre! ).

In addition and in line with the above, our meal was beyond good. As an appetizer we shared Houston's Sticky Chicken - tender and spicy, as it's meant to be. For a main our choice of the 20oz (shared) Porterhouse was a winner. Cooked and spiced to perfection (medium) totally tender, flavorful and juicy and accompanied by a variety of sauteed veggies and a sumptuous baked potato (our selection). For dessert the ever hospitable and welcoming general manager François (tonight also pitching in as manager of kitchen chefs due to vacations) offered both a tasty and refreshing mini cup cake size nouvelle cheese "cake" and a 3 layer mini raspberry mouse!

Et voila! What a finish to a pleasant...

Service was horrible, we got there at 20:11 and server gave us a table that was not cleaned we told the server about it someone came. We placed our orders together (party of 5) 1 appetizer. Table to our left had 6 patrons and table to our right had 2 patrons, they had their food included appetizers for both tables. We only had drinks in front of us, that server never came by to say anything to us about the meals @20:55 she had the nerve to bring the appetizer and asked us "can she put our orders in now" appetizer is here, mind you (chips w/ artichoke dip).

I asked why she didn't put all at once she had no answer I was beyond pissed, asked for the bill and a container we are leaving, that take her 10 minutes and bring some guy from the kitchen to talk to us.

As we were leaving and take a look at all corners we were the only brown skin patrons there, that's why we were treated as such. Will never go to any Houston Avenue Bar.

This was my first restaurant that I been into since the start of Covid. Let’s start with the good points. Are waiter was very nice and friendly. Did not felt like being rush to eat fast for the next group of people. Secondly, the food here is good, been here before and still no regrets about the quality of food here. Now the bad, if this is how restaurant are gonna be like post Covid, not many restaurants will survive. The portions are ridiculously small. My so-called half portion of Ribs felt like it was it was 1/4 portion. And there was no coleslaw in my plate. I could get the larger size at my local grocery store at the same price as a half. When I was here 2 years ago a half size felt like a real meal plus it had coleslaw. I wouldn’t mind playing more if the portion size were justified. At this time I would not come back just on portion alone. Maybe once Covid is over and portion size are back to normal or if...
