Pome Bakery — Restaurant in Terwillegar Heights

I came here today with my wife to buy some sweets as we were enticed while getting our Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes. The shop looks very appealing and grandiose when you walk in, but looks can be deceiving. First, we asked the staff if the cellophane wrapped cookies were fresh. The staff member nodded his head and didn't say a word. I proceeded to ask again if the cookies were fresh and they hesitated and then muttered yes under their breath. I felt the cookies in the wrap and they were as stale as a rock. I verbally expressed this to the staff member who then said nothing. My wife asked the staff member which dessert was better, the chocolate mousse or the key lime pie. The same staff member monotonously replied "It is your choice" and was not any help. Feeling very uncomfortable and unsatisfied with the service we opted for the key lime pie. Once we got home and tasted the key lime pie we instantly regretted our choice. It tasted like we were eating a bowl of batteries, a metal tangy taste persisted and we needed to wash our palletes of that horrendous flavor. To start, I don't know if all of the 5 star reviews here are the store padding its ratings or a reflection of just how little people know about pastry and baking.

But the pastries and bread are just disappointing.I have included pictures, with the product photos inserted to show the difference in representation. Clumsy and poorly done. The paris brest are completely different sizes and shapes. The eclair was cut it, instead of piping directly into it and also added a cheap jam that wasn't mentioned, and shouldn't have been in a "chocolate" eclair. The pastries also lacked the garnish and are incredibly poorly formed.

They shouldn't be offering pate choux pastries if they are unable to do so property.

The rye bread also turned out to be a "light" rye, and nothing like its picture either. Not a dark rye as it was shown to be, but something so similar to just a sour dough loaf that it they shouldn't bother making it separately.

I had Pome Bakery made a cake for my daughter’s 9th birthday. It was everything we hoped for…and more. Sadhna, the manager, was so courteous, professional, and patient with my requirements and in-person inquiries. I was unsure of my requirements and was admittedly nervous about the final product with the many ideas, requests and pictures in mind. She helped me with picking the right cake i.e. with selection, flavour and design, I admit they delivered in truly upstanding fashion!!!. They were timely and assured me everything would be fine. The cake was perfectly delicious and the decorations were spot on, not overly sweet and sooooo, very beautiful!. Their work was polished and the cake and frosting had a great flavor. Everyone in attendance was wowed by the work and taste and asked where we got the cake. Inside and out, the cake was great!
