This is my 4th time here since they’ve opened one week ago and this place is my new go to! they have very generous portions for their dishes, great value, and everything tasted perfect. Waitresses and all staff are very friendly, and breakfast all day! Hands down the BEST WAFFLE YOU WILL EVER EAT, I don’t know how they do it, but I’m a bit of a waffle lover and I haven’t had one like it in the city. Pancakes were really good and the strawberries and blueberries were all fresh too, with whipped cream. The turkey (and beef) bacon and eggs with shredded hash browns were excellent, and the coffee was fresh and they leave a small pot of coffee on the table just like any good diner! They also have freshly ground pepper and salt in the tables which is pretty cool. Their jalapeño popper burger was really good, and I’m excited to try some of their other creations. I also tried their pizza which was really good too. T Great family friendly diner, we took our 1year-old with us, they had high chairs, and brought him a colouring sheet/kids menu (which he could only crumble up but still had fun with it). Also being a student, I find this a great place to get some work done because they have ingeniously put outlets + USB ports conveniently to charge your devices. Great quality. I’ll be returning for sure!

Jay Bee's Diner in North Edmonton is a beloved local treasure that embodies the heart and soul of a classic diner experience. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly feels like home. The menu is a delicious journey through all your favorite comfort foods. Whether you're craving a hearty breakfast, a juicy burger, or a homemade milkshake, Jay Bee's Diner delivers with quality and flavor that consistently exceeds expectations. What truly sets this diner apart is its dedication to serving up generous portions of tasty, made-from-scratch dishes. The friendly staff adds to the overall charm, creating a sense of community and nostalgia that makes each visit special. Jay Bee's Diner is more than just a place to eat; it's a North Edmonton institution that has been serving up delicious memories for years. It's a testament to the enduring appeal of a classic diner and a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a comforting and satisfying dining experience.

First time eating at Jay Bee’s Diner. Ordered pizza to go and ate their hot wings in restaurant. The wings were adequate… slightly overcooked and not much meat for 10 wings at $16. I went in at 1600 during a slow time. Had I been asked how the wings were before I scarfed them down, I would have mentioned my concerns… but I waited too long to eat lunch and was ready to eat my left foot. The accompanying celery looked fresh, but was disappointingly spongy. The carrots and ranch dip were fresh and crisp. The waitress was incredibly personable. It’s a shame they said they’d be removing the pizza from the menu because it’s honestly one of the better crusts and sauces I’ve had. Pizza was 10/10 for sure. Highly recommend. Ordered the carrot cake to go and it was also quite delicious… moist, nutty with a hint of coconut. I will return for a main meal or breakfast sometime!

TL;DR: Bad experience that was made right by the owner. Will be going back sometime in 2020 for another try.

Dec 11th 2019 UPDATE: We contacted the owner of the restaurant - met and had a fairly lengthy discussion about our experience. We received a full refund for our meal and the promise that this was not up to the high standards that they hold for the business. This is a new location for the business (the other has been well established for 30 years or so) and they have had their challenges here. The location has only been open for about a week - they are still trying to get this location to the point that the first one is at. We will be returning to this one at another time in 2020 to see how they made out and give them a fair shake!

Dec 9th 2019 We just visited the JayBee's location on 12707 140 Ave in Edmonton and it was more than a little bit disappointing. The menus were stapled sheets of paper and all three of them had the sheets in different orders. The lasagna I ordered was sickly sweet - I think they used a sweet bbq sauce which I totally hated. The roast dinner that my wife ordered was way way WAY too peppery, her mashed potatoes were cold and wrapped in some sort of rice paper type of thing? and even the vegetables were covered in pepper. My son had the "Inside out burger" - supposed to be a meat patty stuffed with cheese. He received a double patty burger with cheese between the patties and no cream cheese sauce as the menu stated. The teas that I and the wife ordered were cold, there was no alternative sweetener offered, and the teaspoons for stirring our tea were non-existent. AND to top it all off, wifey found a hair in her food which was promptly taken back to the kitchen - then was followed up by the waitress telling us the manager told her to let us know it was a bristle of a brush that they use to spread the sauce on the roast. All three of us did not finish our meals after Kim found that hair in her food - if it was a brush bristle, they really need to spend some money on the utensils used in the kitchen. We were charged full price on EVERYTHING that we ordered, no discounts given, and the poor waitress had to take the brunt of our displeasure. The manager could not be bothered to do their job and come talk to us about it. The only cool thing was the fact that they had USB outlets right at the booth. We will not be returning to any of the chain's locations - this was a 90$ lesson that I would advise no one else repeating.

I really didn't have expectations going into this place but wow, it's like the spawn of industrial architecture and a forest. Lots of shiny steel and heavy wood tables. And I can't decide if the mustard yellow booths are a bad choice or genious, how many mustard stains can a diner have before they need to resort to that?

A definite plus for this place is that it's halal, which goes well with the local community and it's nice to see restaurants actually cater to the clients they are serving. I personally have a kid that's allergic to pork so this place has a lot of options for my kid.

Also, the Smash Burger was fantastic! Two ground beef patties with cheddar and Pepper Jack cheese and two pieces of beef bacon, topped with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato and Jay Bee’s signature sauce. If I had a good experience this would be my go-to every time I visit Edmonton... however my experience was not good.

The food took an obscene amount of time to arrive at the table, close to 50 minutes. When the food did arrive only 3 of the 5 plates were delivered. The last two took another 15 minutes to show up. It was awkward smashing my smash burger while my friends were waiting enviously. I suspect the kitchen was waiting for fries? I can only suspect because no apology and no explanation was given.

Also they missed the meatballs on the spaghetti and there was no parmesan to be had. You can't have pasta dishes without it.

And before I go, a bit of a suggestion. The plates you use for the food at the tables are really nice, if I thought I could get away with it I would have stolen a few. But the problem is they are super heavy! Even the waitress we had complained it was going to wreck her arm. I totally believe it, I'm a beefy sort of person and I wouldn't want to fling these dishes all day. All I'm saying is you are going to break your employees.

Overall I think some of the shortcomings might just be new restaurant jitters and could be ironed out over time, so I will try again next time I...

If I could give -5 stars I would. WORST service ever. First the server seemed impatient but was still somewhat friendly. While my 4 yr old daughter was deciding whether she wanted fruit or toast, the server said she would go get our drink order while she decided. It took awhile for the drinks to finally come and for the server to come back to take the rest of our order. Our order finally comes out and my daughters order was wrong. We had to flag our server to get her to let her know the order was wrong. Our server NEVER ONCE came over to our table once the food was out, not even to ask how the food was. My husband and daughter were done their meals. (I was still eating because I had ordered steak and eggs and wanted HP sauce for my steak so I was eating slow) I finally gave up and started eating my COLD steak because our server was never around where we could flag her down. I had a few bites left when she FINALLY came over. I asked for a to go Container. She left. She came back with the receipt and machine. She left again to go get a to go container. I waited 10 mins (it felt longer) because I notice that the steak and eggs meal was $2.00 more than what the menu stated it was. So I was waiting for the server to come back so I could ask why. She noticed I was waiting and probably notice how annoyed and pissed i was getting. She came over and I asked her why. She said she would ask. She came back with another bill with the $2.00 deducted and left again to go get a to go container. She FINALLY came back with the to go container as i was finishing up paying. I could have seriously walked out without ever paying and she probably would not have noticed for awhile. She is just lucky that we are not those people that would do that, even though the food was mediocre at best. The coolest thing was their gimmick robot that brings people their food. The kids loved that.

But still....Never going back...
