Chili Chat Indian Cuisine Restaurant — Restaurant in Thompson

We arrived to Thompson on the train and this is a PERFECT stop! It was so good on the way to Churchill we stopped there on the way back too! The place is cute and clean, the front of house staff is SO CHARMING, and the food is fabulous! I cannot recommend the mango smoothie enough. We went there with another train passenger on the way back who had two in one sitting!!! We tried the butter chicken and the chicken tiki masala, both of which were fabulous. A large, if you get naan as well, is probably enough to split but it’s all so good you may want to try more than one thing, so get two regular portions! After being on the train with no real food to speak of, this place is checks all the boxes and delivers so much more! So fun to support a local business too, the family who owns it seems absolutely wonderful. GO HERE YOU...

It would appear that the independent restaurateur has once again proven to be better at delivering a great quality (and quantity) of food, served by friendly and welcoming staff. Chili Chat, (which I believe is supposed to be "Chaat") will be my go to location for hot...and I you want...spicy...food. The dinner for two provided more than enough food and did not disappoint on flavour. As a reviewer who has been to their fare share of restaurants, especially those who offer non-Canadian style food, Chili Chat makes no attempts to 'Canadianize' their dishes, which one rarely experiences. As an example: the butter chicken ranks as probably one of the best dishes that I have enjoyed to date. If you're going to try Chili Chat, go hungry, because you'll be pleasantly content with a full belly of awesome...

I was really looking forward for Chilli Chat to reopen, but sadly, the experience was disappointing. The food didn't taste authentic, and for what we paid, the portions were way too small. The tamarind juice with the pani puri was especially disappointing—it was cold and tasted old. The prices for the portions are much higher compared to what you'd find in Winnipeg. The place is so congested, and the service was not up to the mark. Eating in was very uncomfortable, with food served in disposable plates. They are charging prices similar to mainstream restaurants, but the facilities and quality were very disappointing. I really hope the owners take this feedback seriously and work on improving the quality of their food...
