Northern Inn & Steak House — Restaurant in Thompson

Update June 2025 Went for steak and eggs this morning. Ordered a rare steak and well done potatoes on the grill, with homemade toast. It took an hour for the meal to arrive, with other tables who sat down after us getting served much sooner. They claimed the reason was for the steak, which honestly takes about 6-8 minutes to cook rare. The food finally arrived after asking the waitress what was up. Steak was overdone (medium), potatoes were very undergone (basically just boiled), and the toast was overdone. They definitely need to get their act together in the kitchen, this was unacceptable. I ate it because I didn't want to wait another hour for them to cook things properly. The washrooms were also trashed. On the plus side the waitress was friendly and came around frequently. Came for breakfast with my coworkers and ordered explorers breakfast; steak to be medium well. Got my order and my steak was very well done. Called the attention of the male server to it and told him I asked for medium well but I got very well done, the table was shaking when I was trying to cut into it. He said “that’s nice” and I told him no then he walked away saying he’d get our server and doesn’t know what I was talking about. Our server came and she acknowledged that the steak was very well done, apologized and took it back to get another one made. Waited for another half hour and nothing came. While up in Thompson for work, someone suggested that we try the Northern Inn for lunch. It was a little busy, but we were able to easily find a seat. It took approximately 15 minutes for our order to be taken. After another 45 minutes, and being late for work, we left hungry. I will never try going back there. I'm very upset that we had to stay late at work to make up for the time that was wasted. I wish there was an option for no stars for...
