Doesn't make you feel like wow - I have to come back for more. We spent about $400 here (boys night out; group of 12), and ordered a wide variety of dishes to really get a feel for the place. Saturday night; the place wasn't packed but not empty either. Seating is definitely limited but spacious for guests. The chairs were already loose, and moving while sitting; definitely the chairs that Shoeless Joe's had there before perhaps. The atmosphere has a romantic feel, with background melodies playing at the perfect sound level where you can still carry on a conversation. The food again, is not cooked to order. If it was, the dishes were never piping hot as made to order food should taste like. Everything is served quickly, with not a lot of care it seems, around the quality: veechu roti was under cooked and not thin, garlic naan was burnt to practically a crisp, kerala baked fish was basically over-fried, and had barely any edible fish left, the biriyanis' (shrimp & mutton) tasted like it was made several hours ago, with the mutton being chewy and dry. Shrimp was fried fresh. The best dish on the menu was the Mutton Sukka for $13.99. Now this was the only dish that really lived up to the name "5 Spice Dining." You could really taste something uniquely different in this curry; nothing like you've had before. Meat was cut into small bite size pieces (packed with flavour), with the meat being tender, flavourful, and juicy. This dish gets a 5 out of 5! You gots'to try this! All in all, this place gets a 2 out of 5. I was contemplating a 3 out of 5, but they just lacked flavours. Not the worst food, but definitely not the greatest. Hopefully, they take the feedback and improve their quality, because they have the potential to be great! The management and coordination of staff did not give us a smooth, and attentive staff type-feel. They had a lot of staff, easily more than 6 employees for about 25 people in the restaurant. It was hard to know who our waiter was! It's like the staff are playing crisscross with tables, no set structure. The attitude of the staff is outstanding; definitely professional, humble, and they laugh with you and converse. I wish I could say, hey you gotta'eat here! A little pricy for their food; they're trying to be gourmet or fine dining: food is not quite there. Most people would complain, but that's just not our style. We try the food, but we may not return. At least try them out once, and see for yourself. This is just my humble opinion.

As a Lankan Muslim, I was waiting for a place that would finally serve halal Sri Lankan food, and this place does it the best! 🥘☕️ There's a great variety of vegetarian and 100% halal food and drinks. We ordered the Kolu Pittu with Mutton Gravy 9/10 (nice and spicy), Masala Dosai 6/10, Ghee Dosai 7/10, Appam/Hoppers 9.5/10, Chicken Kothu Roti 8/10, and Masala Chai 9/10. The Appam/Hoppers are literally so good, it's very similar to the ones in Sri Lanka and have the right sweet-spice level. Honestly, they killed the spice and taste levels, it's super authentic and hits the spot. I'd recommend all to try. 🕑 We went on Dec 26th and they were open pretty late into the night (11 PM). 🌿✨️This place has your typical Indian/Sri Lankan aesthetics but it's pretty gloomy and dark. I'd like to say the environment isn't as tidy as it should be. When we walked to our table and there were tables around us that still had leftover dishes & food. Those tables weren't cleaned until closer to the time we left. At the table we were seated at, you could see that there were curry stains on the walls and windows, and the glasses we received were dirty. 🤍 Customer service is alright. I know it was Dec 26th and usually stores aren't open on that date, but it seemed like there wasn't much staff available as we were waiting a good 5-10mins to be seated. They also didn't come around to refill water or ask if everything was okay (i.e., more plates, more stuff to order, etc.,). Initially, two waiters were serving us and they didn’t communicate with each other so that created a bit of confusion as well. All in all, give this place a try, it's truly authentic and spicy. I would've given this 5 stars if not for its tidiness. But for sure, I'll be back here again with family and friends!

5 Spice Dining is a true gem, offering an extensive menu that showcases the best of Sri Lankan cuisine, from lamprais to pittu and hoppers. These authentic flavors are a rare find, even in Sri Lankan households, making it remarkable to experience them in Canada. A hallmark of Sri Lankan cuisine is the hopper—a thin crepe shaped like a bowl, with a soft center (optionally with an egg) and crispy edges. 5 Spice Dining excels in this regard, serving perfect hoppers that highlight their culinary skill. However, their koththu roti, made with non-traditional roti, might not meet expectations, though this is easily overlooked given the abundance of other rare dishes available. Overwhelmed by the options, I indulged in a feast, resulting in delicious leftovers that brought joy to this Sri Lankan for days. The GTA seems to be the only place in Canada with such high-quality Sri Lankan food, a claim that Vancouver, for instance, cannot match. The dining experience begins with a touch of chaos—standing at the entrance while the host is on the phone—but the service quickly improved thanks to our server, Hiruni. Her genuine Sri Lankan hospitality ensured we had a great experience. My non-Sri Lankan companions expressed surprise at the marked difference between Sri Lankan and Indian food—a sentiment that resonates deeply with Sri Lankans who often tire of being mistaken for their neighbours. This acknowledgment of our unique cultural and culinary identity was a gratifying moment, reflecting the importance of representation and understanding. 5 Spice Dining is a must-visit for anyone curious about Sri Lankan food. It offers an authentic and expansive culinary journey through Sri Lanka's rich food heritage, making it a standout in Canada's multicultural mosaic.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 5 Spice, and I can't say enough positive things about my experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the evening.

Our server, Subash, truly went above and beyond to make our dining experience exceptional. He not only greeted us with a friendly smile but also took the time to get to know our preferences. Subash recommended some dishes that he thought we would enjoy, and his suggestions were spot on. He even helped us choose the perfect options for our young child, ensuring that our meal was a family-friendly affair.

The food at 5 Spice was nothing short of amazing. Each dish was a work of art, and the presentation was simply stunning. It was evident that the chefs take great pride in their craft, as every bite was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Whether it was the flavorful curries, the tender meats, or the fresh and vibrant vegetables, every dish was a culinary delight.

But what truly set this dining experience apart was Subash's exceptional service. He was attentive without being intrusive, always ready to assist and he made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His knowledge of the menu and his genuine passion for the food made our evening unforgettable. It's safe to say that Subash provided us with the best service we've had in years, and we are incredibly grateful for his efforts in making our dining experience so enjoyable.

In conclusion, 5 Spice is a must-visit restaurant for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The combination of delectable cuisine, exquisite food presentation, and exceptional service, courtesy of Subash, makes this restaurant stand out from the rest. I can't wait to return to 5 Spice for another unforgettable meal.

It was wonderful occasion to celebrate at 5 Spice! Visiting the restaurant on Sunday, December 10th, to commemorate your friend's achievement of obtaining permanent residency in...

Went here recently. My family has been so they decided we went here for lunch. Was i absolutely irritated with this place when leaving. We were attended by a lady and Service was terrible. We had asked if we could take a table with a bench seat as it would be easier to sit with my son by my side. But we were refused since that’s a table for 5-6 and we were only 4. Although the restaurant barely had any customers at this point of the day. So okay sure we get seated and crammed between another two tables who were already seated although again there’s a bunch of space. I left it. When it came to ordering she comes back within 2 minutes asking if we were ready and we hadn’t even checked the menu. Then she advises us to call for her through a call button on the table when we are ready for order. Eventually we pressed the button when we were ready but no response. We pressed a few more times and still nothing and eventually I had to wave her down to get her attention. Food was very good and was happy with that. She was not a good server at all. We asked for a suggestion on what’s popular and she just told us to choose what we like… and completely disregards the question and us asking for a recommendation. Even to get our bill at end had to press the damn button so many times to get her attention as she stood around talking to the other servers.

To the management. You really need to either train your employees on better communication and customer service skills and get rid of these buttons on the table. A servers job is to be attentive to a customers need and follow up. Our server did not do any of that. What’s the purpose of a button if they don’t even respond to it. I get it maybe a convenience factor when stores packed but I really think this will be the downfall of the service side of things. Anyways my suggestions.

Personally if I do go back it would be for take out and dine in I would probably pass on if it...
