A&W Canada — Restaurant in Toronto

I placed an order through uber eats for a mama burger combo. In the app I specifically requested that they remove an ingredient due to a food allergy. I don't know what the issue was, but the restaurant location did not get the instruction.

I called Uber eats and explained the situation but they refused to refund it. They called the restaurant location and explained the situation - that I had made a request to remove the ingredients and that I had a food allergy - yet the restaurant refused to do anything to rectify the issue.

I drove to the location in person and spoke with them. I showed them my uber order, confirming that I had made the request to remove the ingredient, and I requested that they look at the sandwich. Instead of this, they looked at my order and argued with me. They told me that this isn't something they can fix because on their system, the order was correct.

One of the employees went to the back then returned to the counter with a phone, saying their manager wanted to talk to me. I spoke with them on the phone and the manager was extremely rude and unaccommodating. I tried very hard to be polite at first, but after they became confrontational and irate, I will admit, I lost my temper. I do regret cursing, and throwing the food bag, however after the horrendous treatment and verbal abuse given to me by their manager was the final straw. My experience here is so consistently good that I’m torn between joy and delight, and utter grief, knowing what happens when we have nice things. This place is clean and the staff is very kind and caring. They have a well thought-out self serve condiment area. They use metal trays and fry containers, and glass mugs for the root beer. The mugs are kept in a freezer so you don’t even need to add ice in the drink, as the drink turns a little icy just by being poured into the cold glass. The place is clean - really clean. Compared with the Wendy’s at steeles and dufferin, this A&W deserves a gold metal for cleanliness. Staff is friendly, helpful, patient, kind and caring. And there’s even sinks for hand washing that are outside and you don’t need to wait for a bathroom. Is this reality? Is this a prank? Are they going to pull the rug once they get their market share? I don’t know. I hope it is real, and that it stays this way (and strives to be even better- altho they’re already at the very top for any fast food burger place).

A really good A and W. Busy but not crowded and a friendly manager who stops to chat a bit when serving you at the counter. Very refreshing to see! The food is well prepared and is ready in a timely manner. The only odd experience I had here was a person walking around the restaurant offering people some dessert she made from a Tupperware. We politely declined but it made my Mom feel very uneasy about dining there. I think the person meant well, but I was surprised that was being allowed in the dining area.
