I am so upset and shocked the way me and my family were treated Saturday September 30th. Me and my family come to this location for every special occasion in our lives. I am 29 and we have had random dinners, birthdays, new years, Christmas Eve, holy Communions and the list goes on... we have never complained or been disrespectful. We leave nice tips and have respect for everyone. This evening we noticed the food was just terrible.. not to be disrespectful but it was just really bad. We made a complaint and asked for a discount on our bills.. it's not fair we need to pay full price for food we weren't even eating. All I ate was an egg roll and a small piece of cheese cake... the manager did not seem to care and felt the need to mention that no one else was complaining about the food. out of 11 people, only two seniors ate, everyone else did not eat!!! If you look on the cameras you see us all trying each others plates because all the food was just terrible... you also see me struggling to move because of how jam packed they had everyone in the rooms. You see me talking to other people in the room about how we have no space and people were agreeing. whoever cooked didn't add salt or seasoning or cook things properly. We wanted the manager to believe us and were telling her to get a plate and try the food infront of us. All they gave us was two free meals between 11 people... like I said, we have never made any complaints all these years that we've been coming!! At the very least they should have given everyone at the table reasonable discount. We were in room C and they crammed so many people in there, we couldn't even move or get out of our seats .. it was horrible. This is the first time and we weren't treated with the respect and care we deserved. They always have the manager come to our table and greet us, give their card and if we have any issues to go to her... but this time no one seemed to even care. I am so angry and upset. When push come to shove and we finally needed help and put in a complaint, they didn't do ANYTHING. I will not be returning to this location. We've given so much business to this specific location FOR YEARS and I'm just shocked how we were treated. We didn't know this is how they treated people when we need help. We've never asked for help cause there was never a reason to complain. It just showed us how they react to issues and how they treat their customer when a problem finally does arise... I am beyond disappointed. I have photos and evidence of me and my family coming to this location for years, I grew up celebrating and eating at this location and this is how we get treated. Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment with the experience my family and I had during our visit on Friday, January 17th, for my father’s birthday celebration at the 1027 Finch Ave W, North York, ON M3J 2C7 location. I had made a reservation for 6:30 PM under the name “France” and arrived at the restaurant promptly at 6:23 PM. I was informed by the male host (he looked Indian) that my name would be called at 6:30 PM. However, despite approaching the host multiple times—once at 6:40 PM and again at 6:50 PM—my reservation seemed to have been overlooked entirely. By the time we were finally seated, it was 6:54 PM.
The host’s explanation that it was “too busy” to manage the reservation properly was unacceptable, particularly since the restaurant often experiences high volumes of patrons. This lack of organization and attentiveness set a poor tone for what was supposed to be a special occasion. I didn't appreciate that his apology came with an excuse. There was no excuse for having us stand around for that long when we had a reservation for a special occassion.
Further compounding the issue was the handling of the birthday coupon. After initially showing it to the host along with my father’s ID for verification, the host inexplicably asked to see the coupon again just seconds later. How did he forget that I JUST showed him the coupon MAX 10 SECOND AGO?! Later in the evening, another waiter also asked if we had already shown the birthday coupon. This lack of communication among the staff was both frustrating and unprofessional.
Additionally, the availability of salmon sashimi was incredibly disappointing. Over the course of four trips to the buffet, the salmon sashimi tray was empty each time, save for my final attempt, during which I was only able to take one piece. The servers also took forever to pick up our empty plates that were piled from our table, and a female Indian host with her hair in a bun even disturbed my boyfriend and asked him to hand her a plate at the end of the table WHILE HE WAS EATING. That was extremely disrespectful!
Even after telling them 3x that it was my Dad's birthday, they still asked me AGAIN whose birthday it was. It was the worst dinner ever and embarrassing that I brought my Dad to a restaurant that treated us like this.
Overall, this experience was highly disappointing, especially as it was meant to be a celebration for my father’s birthday. Read moreThis is the dirtiest and worst location I have ever been to. Went for lunch at 2pm and they had already stopped bringing out fresh food. I grabbed some torpedo shrimp and almost threw up when I realized that they were not fully cooked. I call the manager and she just told me to go get new ones without apologizing or even offering a discount or something. Went back out to buffet to get something else and multiple selection was not refreshed. They charge same price no matter what time you go for lunch and they don't close until 3pm so why do you stop bringing out fresh food at 2pm. This is not right at all. If your going to do that than you should offer a discount to people coming at or after 2pm! The manager was not very professional and was annoying customers as they ate. She did not handle the situation very well and has no business dealing with people. This location needs to be investigated for sure because the likelihood is that they should not even be open! I will never dine here again and I love the mandarin normally. I have been going to Mandarin for over 30 years and never experienced this kind of level of unprofessionalism, dirtiness, and horrible way to treat customers.
