Food – We visited for the Afternoon Tea Experience, and it was fantastic! The finger foods were plentiful—perfect for two—and we were absolutely stuffed by the end. The real star, though, was the tea selection. With a wide variety ranging from non-caffeinated options to unique specialty blends, it was a tea lover’s dream. While the "Fairies Blood" wasn’t our favorite, we really enjoyed other teas like Toronto Haze, their recommended Chai, and Creamsicle. There's something for every palate, though some teas are definitely bolder than others. It’s an adventure for your taste buds! Service – The service was exceptional! Our server was friendly, funny, and went above and beyond—taking pictures, offering recommendations, and always being attentive. They made us feel welcome from start to finish. Truly couldn’t ask for more. Huge kudos to the team! Ambiance – The vibe here is carefully curated, with a charming mix of mismatched decor, quirky utensils, and local artwork. The cozy, eclectic atmosphere made it a joy just to sit and take it all in. They even have games you can play, and before we knew it, three hours had flown by! I also appreciated the inclusive touch, like the community board in the washroom, which makes it clear that this is a space to relax and leave your worries behind. However, I’m not sure about the accessibility of the teahouse. Overall – I highly recommend this spot!

I really wanted to rate it 5/5. But... It is a quirky and comfortable place. I used to come here before the change of ownership. I liked the previous structure better than the anti-cafe pay structure they have now. First the positives, food is still great, amazing tea, coffee, dessert (omg the carrot cake is to die for). The service was a little slow though, I had a great interaction with the owner but then towards the end it almost felt like he was being bothered from us ordering more food and drinks. I thought I was the only who felt this way but other in my group said the same. Not sure, what happened there. The anti-cafe structure is for those wanting a place to for co-working, etc. I get it. I think cafes put a two minimum hour limit so people don't sit there the whole day. I think the per hour fee should maybe start if someone wishes to stay beyond two hours. The main reason I used to chill here was to play board games while having drinks, but the board games seemed to be in a bad shape this time. I don't see why I'd not just to another cafe if I've want one or two cups of coffee + eat, (usually takes two hours). At least I won't have to pay a fee to use the space on top of that as well. Kinda feel like If I want to come back here just to eat + have a drink, I will feel rushed to leave within an hour.

Bampot is an incredible cafe/restaurant with a great selection of curated teas, food that is delicious and healthy, and a strong sense of community. Their new food options are wonderful: try out their chickpea tofu sandwich(the Constantinople) if you get a chance. It is my personal favorite. They open their space several times a week to art groups and serve as a space for creative people to gather, share ideas, and collaborate. On the first and third Mondays of the month, they open their space to the Drink and Draw Toronto meetup group. They are warm, welcoming and have the space setup ahead of time to maximize collaboration among attendees. Ever since we started hosting the meetup at Bampot, our community has grown more closely knit. Attendees reach out personally to share their positive experiences in the space. Thanks to Bampot for being a cornerstone for many arts communities and infusing life into the Drink and Draw meetup.

Poor explanation of rules paired with unprofessional behaviour from the white male worker. Paid $26 for one pot of tea (worth $7 on their menu) and to sit there for an hour. I guess it’s only worth it to pay the anti-cafe fee if you’re gonna drink about 10 pots within two hours. Honestly stupid

Edit in response to the management:

The menu and its rules about switching between a la carte and the anti-cafe are poorly articulated and the paragraphs were missing obvious commas. The menu is clear that anti-cafe pricing begins after the first hour, and upon playing a board game you automatically switch to anti-cafe pricing. However, what is not clear is that you are immediately charged for two hours of anti-cafe pricing upon playing a board game, regardless of how long you stay. This is not well articulated and frankly doesn’t seem to make much sense.

Additionally, we’re very aware that we were there for an hour and some, that’s not some “gotcha” point. We stayed, played some connect four, paid (and tipped 15%), and then have subsequently left a bad review because the business and what it offers is a poor deal. The whole business model is charging people to stay in the space, which no “normal” cafe does. You can pay $5 for a latte and chill in any other cafe for 6 hours. At the end of the day we payed $23 (like $26 after tip) for a pot of tea and some connect four, and if we really wanted to we could’ve had a few more pots of tea? Ok? Still a bad deal, especially if you don’t stay for a long time. I can pay $26 for two burritos and bring my own connect four to a restaurant if I really wanted to.

Also, it is not true that you are “the least expensive board game cafe in town”, there are multiple cafes where if you buy a drink you can play their board games for as long as you want.

Certainly won’t be coming back, especially seeing the petty and pointed comments you guys are making in response to customers reviews while you’re on the clock. Really unprofessional and odd. I suspect it was the white guy working who was lounging around on his phone half the time we were there. Can’t imagine getting into a business like this, lobbying as hospitable and welcoming yet having such immature responses to genuine...

Have had a horrible experience dealing with the owners. They talk about supporting the community ethically and justly but yet have not paid me for 6 months of work that I have done for them. I handled posting to their social media accounts. I have repeatedly called and texted them with no reply or acknowledgement. As a visible minority, it is clear that if I was Caucasian, they would have replied and paid me for the work that I did. After enduring months of silence, I finally received a response, only to be offered less than 25% of what is owed to me for the extensive work I've completed.

As a person of colour, it's deeply disheartening to have to recount such an experience, but it's crucial to shed light on the unprofessionalism and disregard for basic decency that I've encountered with Bampot House. After pouring my time, effort, and expertise into their projects, I find myself in a position where my work is not only unrecognized but also unpaid for.

Despite multiple attempts to reach out via phone calls and text messages, my attempts to resolve this matter amicably have been met with silence and avoidance from Bampot House. This behaviour not only reflects a lack of integrity but also hints at a disturbing disregard for the value of my work as a person of colour.

It's disheartening to see that in this day and age, such blatant disregard for fair compensation and communication can still exist, especially in a professional setting. It's a stark reminder of the systemic barriers and biases that people of colour continue to face in various industries.

I travelled an hour to meet them in person to discuss the outstanding amount owed. It was civil, and they "promised" to call me the next day with payment details but (not surprisingly) went radio silent.

Potential customers should be wary of engaging with a business that demonstrates such flagrant disregard for their contractual obligations and basic human decency. Until Bampot House rectifies this situation and acknowledges the value of all individuals' contributions regardless of race, I cannot in good conscience recommend...

I came to bampot after a long day at work and decided to stay a few hours to do some driving school work I came at 5:20 and was greeted by the host and took my seat as they instructed along with the menu and started on my work. I sat towards the back of the establishment. The host came back and gave me a teacup. I ordered two chai’s first was good but not sweet enough for me and I told the host to which they kindly listed different sweeteners and gave a recommendation of maple syrup which was excellent. I continued my work but when I got to the bottom of my last cup I noticed a small hair in the fuzz of the chai. I wanted to say something but I can be very timid to a fault when it comes to these things and don’t like to cause a scene. Towards the last half hour additional customers came to the back. And thought the host came to check up I didn’t voice the complaint as I didn’t want to gross them out and ruin their tea house experience towards 7:50 I finished my module and made my way to the front where I was greeted and met with my bill I quietly let the host know about the hair i found in my teacup as there was a event that had started and I didn’t wish to interrupt the performers.i was met with a okay a brief glance at the cup and blank stare before they washed the cup and waited for me to pay. I understand that the host may have believed that I was doing this last minute as a cash grab but it truly was not my intent. I felt like saying more but I had to catch my train and I was already tired from a long day at work and didn’t feel like causing a scene so I left dejectedly. This is in no way to bash the establishment as I have gone with friends and had a wonderful experience and my experience up to finding the hair was pleasant but I do feel something could have been done to rectify the issue. This incident dissuades me from coming to the shop again which is a shame because I believe it to be a very nice place but I don’t agree with the handling of...
