Update: thanks to Basil box for inviting me again. I tried Garlic Rice Silog this time: vegetarian and chicken version for same. Being a vegetarian, I tried this dish with Tofu as protein. It was a bed of rice, with sautéed tofu, a fried egg, pickled carrots and onions and you can then top it with sauces of your choice. We had sweet mayo and Thai sweet and sour sauces. Likewise was chicken version except that there was Chicken as protein in stead of Tofu. Tofu dish was amazing. The coating on tofu was so flavourful yet not very spicy. You can of course top it with additional chilly big you prefer spicy. I personally liked this dish a lot, however my partner didn’t like his chicken version much as he complained of dryness again despite topping it with both additional sauces. We both would love to return for Tofu Rice Silog as our lazy day takeouts.

Previous review: I took a takeout for dinner for me and my partner. I got vegetarian Pad Thai and Double Fried Chicken with rice. Both lacked flavours and were very dry. It was difficult to even swallow. And it’s not that they are charging any less than usual good-quality Thai takeout places. As a vegetarian, I could smell/taste meat in my Pad Thai which was even more disgusting experience to have. Maybe Tofu was fried in same utensil as Meat or Pad Thai was assembled in same wok as...

Had previously ordered several times and quality of food was good.

This time I ordered at 8:08pm via the phone app. Order and payment was accepted. Got to the location after 8:40pm and the app had not reported as ready.

Location was empty beyond one server. He was surprised and then checked the app and said that while he found my order, on occasions orders were not getting through and that he would have to report it.

Store was closing in ten minutes. He really didn't want to offer me my original order and, having looked over the counter, I could understand why. Very sad; little of some items and nothing of others. Server apologised and said he would cancel my order (subsequently got email confirmation) and asked if I would like a free drink or other bagged items or any of that food.

While the offer of something else was positive, I'm afraid no notice and a questionable comment about non-receipt of order just left me with a very poor opinion. My previous order (around four months ago) and visit at a nearby location resulted in very late preparation and major parking problem for pick-up.

Don't know if this is something of a recurring pattern for others but two very disappointing experiences. There's lots of other take-out places in the area and variety, and I won't be ordering at Basil Box again in any...

One of my favourite lunch spots! I get the build a box with a chilled noodles base (sometimes spring mix if I want a lighter meal), tofu, edamame and roasted sweet potatoes, all the toppings (except the chillies because they are realllly spicy) topped with sweet chili sauce. The sauce has a medium level spice which adds great flavour. Sometimes I’ll switch it up and get the peanut sauce with a half scoop of the spicy curry added. This was a delicious suggestion by the manager a few months ago. I used to order chicken instead of tofu, but now I’m vegetarian. I am also on a gluten free diet so I appreciate that everything, including the sauces, are gluten free. If you are using their app, you can order in advance or pay instore, and get points for free drinks, snacks, or even a free box. Their mango ginger ale is so tasty and refreshing. Right now it’s on promo for $1 if you buy a box. They’ve added some new menu items including a stir fry option, pad Thai, Mac and cheese and soup. I tried the soup once in the winter and it was delicious. The Yonge and finch location has easier parking than Yonge and sheppard, the manager is so hospitable and friendly, the shop is modern and always clean. Highly...

It's basically poke bowl with Thai food. So I got the noodles which is cold (not very well cooked some were hard and stuck together), 2 veggies so I picked charred yam and corn, protein I got five spice steak which was pretty good (you can go half and half too cause it's all the same price), sauce I got the peanut which is good but they give you sooooo little so maybe ask for extra sauce. The portion is not very big, but for the ladies it's probably enough Overall it's ok but I don't really recommend it. Oh and everything is 11.95 a bowl regardless of protein (you can also pay more for extra protein)
